Breastfeeding

Working moms/weaning

My dd is 10 months and it just occurred to me that I have just 8 weeks left of breastfeeding (want to wrap it up around a year) and am confused about when/which sessions to cut first. Right now she nurses morning, I pump three times a day, nurse after daycare pickup and bed time. She stnn. Which session did everyone cut first? Or did you keep the 6 sessions until they were 1? I am thinking I could cut the after daycare one, but don't want to skimp on milk. Should I just keep 6 times until she is 1?

Re: Working moms/weaning

  • Awesome, thanks so much! She is starting to leave an ounce or two in the first daycare bottle on a regular basis so I went down from 4 to 3 ounces! So it is kind of starting. One day last week she wiggled away during the after daycare session, so I think that will be the first to go. So strange, I feel happy it's close to being over but sad too. I need my body back though!

  • My first daughter tapered off on her own, too. We were lucky in that our daycare provider helped decrease feedings during the day, and my supply from pumping dropped off at the same pace. I think at a year, dd was just nursing in the morning and at bedtime, with cow's milk a few times a day in a sippy cup. We stopped the morning feeding and then continued with the bedtime feeding (more for me than her) for two more months. So I'd say let her take the lead.
