Encouragement for those first few weeks

I just wanted to share my experience with breastfeeding so far in hopes it will encourage someone. The first 6-8 weeks of BF were really, really tough, especially battling with nipple thrush for 2 of those weeks. The nipple thrush was horrific, toe curling pain, but I'm so glad I stuck with it because now at 2.5 months old I finally love breastfeeding. I love the convenience, how much money it saves, the fact that it's really healthy for baby, but most of all I love the cuddles while nursing. When I had thrush, I cried due to the pain each feeding and was ready to quit, but I'm so so so glad I didn't. I quit with my first LO, she is now 4.5 years old and I still regret it and wish I would have stuck with it through those first few weeks. I guess my point is if you are struggling in those first few weeks right now, you can do it. I know it feels hard right now, maybe even impossible, but you can do it & it's so worth it.

My lo is six weeks old, and breastfeeding is still painful at every feed. We just finished two weeks of treatment for thrush, too. I'm starting to feel like there's no hope. :-( Thank you for sharing your story.
