Freezing potatoes

I'm making a curry dish that has diced potatoes in it. I'm planning to cook and freeze it as a freezer meal for later. Can I freeze potatoes or will it get mushy when thawed? Should I just put the potatoes in raw instead?

    I believe freezing raw makes them mushy, but cooked is fine.  I freeze mashed potatoes all the time and they defrost just fine.
