Re: HIgh Risk Check in July 3rd!

  • How far along are you? 28 weeks, yay 3rd trimester!

Remind us all why you are high risk? My pregnancy brain has been making it hard for me to keep up with everyone!  I am high risk for preterm labor and now gestational diabetes.  Although, my cervix has been a rockstar up to this point and hasn't changed at all despite all my contractions. So I officially had my last cervix scan on Monday! Now, I will be monitored for gestational diabetes the remainder of this pregnancy.

Rants/Raves?  I am tired of poking myself in the finger, but I am not going to complain about getting to see her on an ultrasound in the next few weeks. So far GD hasn't been as awful as I was expecting. I actually find I can eat pretty much anything just depending on the time of day and if I balance it with a protein. I am also super sick of contractions-they have been better this week for the most part. I find taking magnesium, resting, warm showers in the evening, and then rubbing some lavender oil on my belly every night has really helped calm them in the evening which I am thankful for. (I realize I sound a bit crunchy this time, but hey, whatever works ha ha-also, everything was approved by the Dr. ;)).

Upcoming appointments? 7/10 for a GD appointment to look at my first two weeks of numbers.

GTKY: What are you up to for the holiday weekend? We are laying low, between DS not loving loud noises, the heat, and a possible tropical storm...we are staying in! We may go later in the month to Busch Gardens to watch the fireworks after the craze of them slows down around here =).

How far along are you?  29 weeks, acorn squash

Remind us all why you are high risk?  I'm at risk for preterm birth bcs of my last kiddo.  But so far everything looks good, and I've graduated from the MFM and cervical scans.  Woot!

Rants/Raves?  Rants first: not really a lot to report, thank goodness.  Slightly less contractions (I've been taking magnesium when I start getting a lot of them and it seems to calm them down - @suitern, tell me more about the lavender oil thing!!).  Still having a lot of Braxton Hicks, but those don't bother me as long as they don't turn into contractions.  Raves: I'm stupidly excited that my belly button is starting to pop, because last pregnancy I had PTL before it got a chance to.  And I'm just super excited that this little guy seems to be staying in nicely.  I want him to keep cooking til he's done!

Upcoming appointments?  OB next Wednesday.  Just a routine appointment, and my last monthly appointment before biweekly appointments start.  Getting closer!

GTKY: What are you up to for the holiday weekend? No plans really.  I'm thinking lots of pool time, if the weather cooperates.  We have this life vest thing for DD and we plan to start teaching her to swim a little bit (right now we just splash around in the baby pool, but she really wants to learn to swim).

Moose: I hope all continues to go well for you.  I completely understand your feelings on losing the birth you hoped for (I had that with my first and may have to deal with that for this one as well).

Suit: Great news on the cervix checks!  Next time I get bh, I will try the lavendar oil.

@jpfeifer, yeah, I went to a massage therapist that swears by essential oils-I figured it can't hurt. Basically every night after a shower, I just drop a few drops around my belly button and rub it around. I am not a huge fan of the lavender scent, but I can handle it since it also helps me sleep.

  • Hi ladies! I'm new to this forum. I'm 30 weeks, 6 days. I'm high risk because I'm an epileptic, even though I've been seizure-free for 5 1/2 years. I'm excited to be starting my biweekly appointments next week. No real rants or raves, but a good night's sleep would be nice. And no plans for the actual holiday. But Saturday, me and mom have a movie date. And Sunday is my cousin's baby shower. Good luck to all my fellow high-riskers. May we have the happy/healthy babies we've prayed for

  • Can I join you guys? I'm newly high risk thanks to this weekend :(

How far along are you? 30+5

Remind us all why you are high risk? PTL over the weekend with no indication what caused it. I'm a shorty (5'1" on a good day) so dr thinks maybe because that and baby being so big. But that's all he's got (no infection, cervix is soft but closed, etc)

Rants/Raves? Rant: bedrest sucks- I'm an active person and usually the caretaker of everybody/thing.

Raves- this is a long weekend for DH so ill have lots of company next few days.

Upcoming appointments? Had one today where BR was extended. Still crampy and part of my plug came out. Next is the 10th.

GTKY: What are you up to for the holiday weekend?

Nothing :( we usually throw a party but dr said if I go out it better be in a wheelchair.

Bummer! Sorry you have to join. I was in this position last pregnancy and on bed rest all through thanksgiving and Christmas! It sucks, but worth it in the long wrong. I lost mucus plug last time at 30 weeks and kept Ds in until 38 weeks! Sorry you are going through this! I am on restricted activity and am having some intense Braxton hicks today. If then pick up I'll probably have to call labor and delivery...I'm hoping that isn't the case :/.

  • How far along are you? 31 weeks Remind us all why you are high risk? Baby has CDH and 50% chance of survival. She will be intubated immediately upon birth but will have no chance if born early. I am delivering at a specialty hospital in the city a couple hrs away. Im now scheduled for non stress tests twice a week for the remainder of the pregnancy. Rants/Raves? 4 appts next week alone. 3 the following week. Just overwhelming... I feel so uncomfortable already. The next (hopefully) 7 weeks will be tough. Upcoming appointments? Oops ... Jumped the gun Had geneticist and peri today Pediatric surgeon team consult/fetal mri results on Mon Hematologist and nst on Tues Nst on Fri GTKY: What are you up to for the holiday weekend? Bro is visiting, bbq on the 4th and co-ed family shower/bbq on Sat.
I am hoping she stays put @Crystalangel79! Are they going to be inducing you? Are they able to give you steroid shots at all to develop her lung? I can't remember if you said she just has one lung or if it is out of place? Thinking of you and your little girl often!

  • Hey y'all, I'm now high risk. It's overwhelming, I never thought I'd be here.

How far along are you? 29 weeks

Remind us all why your high risk? I have marginal placenta previa. I've had bright red blood several time in the past couple of weeks and could possibly go into preterm labor. I've now been put on bi-weekly appts, which wasn't suppose to happen for 4 weeks, at my 17 week ultrasound my cervix was measuring 2.5. My cervix is soft but still closed. At yesterday's appt my belly was measuring small, it's not adding up with the weight gain so my dr is a little concerned about that. I'm suppose to rest and take it easy so I don't have another bleed. I had my glucose test yesterday and waiting on the results, but did find out I'm anemic.

Rants/raves? I feel like baby boy is trying to push out of my cervix. It's a very uncomfortable feeling. I make DH put my shoes on if I'm not wearing sandals or flip flops because I can't reach my feet anymore.

Upcoming appointments? I have an ultrasound on Monday to check placenta and baby. And I have a cervical check on Monday, but my next appointment is in 2weeks.

GTKY: what are you to for this holiday weekend? Doing some fireworks tonight with the family. Maybe BBQ tomorrow.
  • 29 wks 6 days today.

I'm new to the group so I'll give you the low down.  I am labeled high risk because of my high blood pressure, I'm 35 (advanced maternal age), overweight, and have a grandmother and great grandmother who passed away from complications during and following child birth.  However, my pregnancy has been quite easy, no sickness, one episode of minor bleeding and one episode of uncontrolled bp.

Had a regular OB yesterday, and as usual, we are both doing very well.  Have a high risk appt this coming week and the best part is the ultrasound.

My holiday weekend is spent working!!
  • How far along are you?
    30 and change

Remind us all why you are high risk? My pregnancy brain has been making it hard for me to keep up with everyone!
I haven't checked in over here before, I guess I'm techincally high risk, but the MFM is far away so he passed off all the screenings and tests to my ob. I have a VCI (velementous cord insertion) and she's been measuring small the whole time, last growth scan was 15th percentile. So I'm in for weekly appointments from here on out doing weekly biophysical profile u/s and growth scans every 2-3 weeks

    Rants/Raves?
none really major right now, I just wish I lived closer to family so I could be doing something for the 4th. Hubby works all weekend :( but it's not too bad I'm just realaxing.

    Upcoming appointments?
next is on the 9th, BPP test and general check-up

GTKY: What are you up to for the holiday weekend?
    nothing, see rant.

  • I'm going to join even though my OB technically hasn't labeled me as high risk.

How far along are you? About half way through my 30th week.

Remind us all why you are high risk? I've been having contractions consistently for about 2 weeks, and with my last pregnancy I went to the hospital twice for PTL.

Rants/Raves? I would really like to stop working next month, but I have to work as long as possible because I'm my family's sole income provider until we get our business started.

Upcoming appointments? The next one will be on Wednesday. My OB is going to do another FFN test since the contractions haven't stopped.

GTKY: What are you up to for the holiday weekend? BBQ and fireworks at the IL's. I made a berry cheesecake that I'm looking forward to for dessert.
