Dating question for you ladies!

So based on my LMP I am 7weeks + 6 days today. However, I know I ovulated later in my cycle than the standard CD 14. I'm pretty sure I O'd on CD 20 but I wasn't temping so I can't be sure.
Anyway, I've had two ultrasounds, (first to rule out a second ectopic, the second to double check the heart rate which was low at my first U/S) and the baby is measuring 6 days behind based on my LMP which lines up exactly with when I thought I O'd. Which would make me 7 weeks exactly today.
So here's my question. My OB said she isn't going to change my due date because it's less than a weeks difference. But that just seems weird to me 6 days is pretty much a week. I know it really doesn't matter that much but hell I'm either 7 weeks or almost 8 weeks that makes a bit of a difference to me.
What date would you ladies go by LMP or ovulation which lines up with baby's measurements?

Edit- grammar is hard in the morning.

  • I guess you will find out in 32-33 weeks!!  Last time there was a difference of 2 days between their calculations and mine.  I stuck with mine, they stuck with theirs and Eva was born on mine.
  • Loading the player...
  • I'm leaning toward going by mine too. I mean based on the ultrasound that's how baby is leaning too I guess. But you're right I guess we'll see.

I hadn't thought of it like that. And I haven't had that discussion with her either. My next appointment is at the end of the month. I think I'll have that conversation with her and see what she thinks. Thanks for the input.

Haha @mahalo3‌, I thought of that after I posted and thought about throwing in a disclaimer, but then was like nah it's kind of entertaining.

  • I also thought this would be about going out with people while pregnant, and how to address not drinking, etc.
But with my son he measured 6 days behind at the first U/S, but was right on track by 13 weeks. My DR also told me unless there is a difference of 2 weeks from LMP and U/S dating, they just leave your due date the same. But, if your little bean is consistently measuring a week behind, and it might affect decision to induce at 42 weeks, I might push to have a later date noted in my files.

  • Yeah I guess we'll see where it ends up measuring at the next ultrasound. If it's still a week behind I'll push to have it changed.

  • My doctor makes you induce at 41 weeks to the day, so that would definitely make a difference.
  • Yeah I definitely need to have the when do you induce conversation with her. I seriously want to avoid that. I hear pitocin contractions are the worst.

  • btw i totally thought this was going to be a single mom's dating question too!!
  • I'm glad you asked about this--our little one also measured 6 days behind based on LMP--you got some nice answers! I feel like I'll be a little more knowledgeable now when going into our appointment this week. :)

  • If your doctor is hardset on delivering baby by 42 weeks I would push to have it changed. 6 days can mean the difference between a vaginal delivery and a c-section.

    This.
