TTC After a Loss

AW: RE Appointment

So as most of you know, we has our follow up RE appointment yesterday. H had his SA done, I did my injectable class and then we met with the doc. It was a lot and I am slightly overwhelmed (again). He went over my bw which was not as good as I was hoping. My FSH and LH levels were perfectly normal, but my Estradiol was 108 and my AMH was 40.95. That combined with my fasting glucose (102) and my insulin (14.9) along with my baseline u/s, leads him to believe I have PCOS on top of everything else. He wants me to go on metformin and (hopefully) work my way up to 2,000 mg/day. My thyroid and vit. D will be repeated in 8 weeks. TSH was on the line and vit. D is low.

Our new plan is to start the metformin now and wait one complete cycle before starting the Clomid. He wants to give the metformin a chance to work and prepare my body. So, I have to diet, try to lose weight, wait one more cycle before we start Clomid. H's preliminary results on his SA showed all was well on his side, I am hoping to get the full results today. They has to take my progesterone and redo my DHEAS yesterday. RE said that if it looks like I have not O'd they will give me provera to bring on AF. We will do a few cycles on Clomid and then move to Follistim if the Clomid does not work.

  • I'm sorry it wasn't great news. But it sounds like you have a good plan at least. ((Hugs)). I hope the meds do what they should. Are you going to take vitamin d supplements? I had low vit d too and I take 2000 iu a day OTC.
Ya, I have to have 3000 iu/day. It looks like a very sick person lives in my house with all the pills I take, lol.

  • Sorry for the news and being overwhelmed. I have my fx for you! I hope this plan works! Make sure to enjoy your weekend! You deserve it!!!
  • Sorry that it wasn't the best news. Glad you have a plan though.  Some of that sounds similar to my first few RE appointments.  He started me on Vitamin D because i was deficient, and metformin ER for PCOS (I take 2 500 a day) also I am hypothyroid so have that too. My RE wouldn't even try any clomid until I lost 50 pounds.     Some advice with the metformin, take it with food or it can make you feel sick to your tummy. And it may cause some digestive distress too, though eventually it stopped bothering me as much. ::hugs::  Hope you feel less overwhelmed soon.
