I skimmed the UO post from this week and saw that forgetting baby in car was mentioned. I did not see anyone link to this article from the Washington Post. If you don't believe it could happen to you, you especially need to read the article.
It can happen to anyone (even a rocket scientist, as the article says).
Note: don't read if you aren't ready to cry. It's a powerful, award winning article.
It took me all day to get through that article. I have a feeling I won't be able to sleep tonight, but I am glad I read it. I am definitely feeling more aware of how easy it would be to make this kind of mistake. I feel crushed for these people.
I don't think i was at a good emotional state to read that article. I actually ended up having a panic attack last night when reading about one of those cases. So. Not. Good.
@Zembits (and anyone else upset by it) I posted the article because I think it's good. Obviously not happy good (how could it be, given the subject) but well-written and eye-opening. I know that there are "this could never happen to me" people about this subject out there.
And I think this article helps them begin to see another viewpoint, which I think is good.
I think it gives everyone an excellent reminder to take easy precautions (whether that's putting your diaper bag/purse in the backseat, calling to double check that DH dropped LO off - or vice versa, etc...) to avoid becoming the next parents we read about in an article like this.
Again, I am sorry to those upset by this. I tried to give a warning in my OP that it really is not as easy read.
I finally read it. Some parts I teared up at, but the Parents magazine article left me crying far worse than this did. Not that the stories aren't horrible, so I'm not sure why the difference.
@barnwifeI don't think, or at least hope, that people are holding you to any form of fault of trying to upset anyone for posting the article.
I haven't read the parents article yet but this one just left me speechless. I can't imagine the pain they are feeling and pray to god these things stop happening. Ughhhh.
I am not a frequent posting member, but I saw this on huffington post and wanted to share. It was invented by a middle school student. (Free tutorial).

It may seem silly, but it's a free and almost full proof way of remembering someone's in the backseat.
