Do you want a musical /moving one. Or a stationary one?
If you want a moving/musical one you can buy items like this one ebay. Each of the arms has a hole in it so you can add a string to whatever plush item you like and feed the string through the hole and tie a knot on the topside.
I am not sure if I want it to move or not. I am thinking of maybe doing something like this over the crib for now. Maybe moving it to the corner as baby gets older.
I agree that Etsy has some awesome ideas! But some of them are spendy. I almost choked on my water last night when I was looking for a mobile and they wanted $200 for it. [-(
@FamousEa Did you get the hoop at a craft store? I want to use the hook idea in the ceiling like you did. Maybe I will end up wrapping ribbon around that and the string.
I'm not making my own, but I wanted to add that DD really liked watching and listening to her musical mobile. That was one way I had to keep her from crying and give me a few minutes to get things done. So for me it's less about matching the room and more about function. I bought DDs based on reviews and was initially bothered by the fact that it didn't really match but I soon forgot about that.

You can get the crib arm attachment and a music box piece (without the cross arms) to hook the mobile onto to make it spin around!
