3rd Trimester

My "experienced mom" 2 cents

1. Sleep sacks suck. Only because they get in the baby's face too much. We have tried several different brands, styles and sizes and they all do the same thing. Of course it could be different for your baby. It could just be that I have a freakazoid baby.

2. Prepare for a zillion wardrobe changes a day. That includes yourself as well. Between all the pooping, peeing and spitting up we both change at least 3-4 times a day.

3. The swing is a lifesaver. I can't tell you how many times I've put him in his swing so I could get stuff done and he's passed out instantly. I even let him sleep in it one night (GASP) because he'll sleep for close to 5 hours when he's in it, and I desperately needed the sleep.

4. Quit stressing about your hospital bag. Wear the gowns they give you. They'll be coming in to check you multiple times a day and it's much easier to hike that thing up than pulling down pants every time. Plus you have mucho bleeding and you wouldn't want to get your own stuff all nasty. Wear the mesh panties and use their pads. You're paying for the stuff anyway so you may as well use it.

That is my little nugget of wisdom for the day. Carry on.

  • 1. I agree with...they're not really my thing, but they get better as baby gets bigger

    2. AMEN. DD projectile vomited during nursing for the first 3 months...we changed clothes ALL THE TIME.

    3. Don't worry about what other people say about it, you'll do what you need to do to give yoruself a break when it comes to be your turn.

    4. Another AMEN for this one. You won't use MOST of what you pack.

  • Well said!  I second the swing advice.  I would have died without one.
  • You are so awesome for posting this!!!!  I wish I could be there to help you..
(and sock T in the face when necessary....)

HAHAHAHA! I had a creepy psycho moment this morning. I was actually standing over him with my hand balled into a fist and I was whispering to myself "For the love of everything you hold dear, don't do it, don't do it, don't do it!"

  • 1. I never used these either...It was so much easier just to have a onsie and swaddle.

    2. I completely agree!!! The worst part is having to do all the laundry that goes along with those constant changes!

    3. Our swing was not as helpful as this becuase DD had a thing about always wanting to be held so she would scream when you laid her down in anything! Although she did prefer the swing to any other toy or bouncer that we tried.

    4. AMEN!!! I left my bag in the car and did not use just about anything out of it. This time I am more worried about packing baby stuff and not about me. BUT, I will make sure that I have my chapstick as it was the most used item that I brought with me.

  • I agree with #s 2-4 completely! So very right. :)
