Help w/ Name - Penelope (Penny) or Lucy???

My husband and I are stuck between two names: Lucy or Penelope (call her Penny for short). We luckily both like both of them but he is leaning more towards Lucy and I am leaning more towards Penelope. We're not sharing with anyone until we decide so I'm looking to you ladies for opinions. The only real difference, I think, is that Lucy seems to be getting a little common and we didn't necessarily want something really popular.

I really like Penelope, and Penny is such a great nickname! Lucy is a sweet name too, but I feel that Penelope is more unique.

I think you should pick what you like, but Penelope is actually more popular right now than Lucy. I think it will be even more popular when next years names list comes out. For whatever reason when a Kardasian names their baby something there is a huge surge in popularity.

these are BOTH on my list. So I don't think I can help much. lol. sorry. My husband actually likes Penny too. That is the only name that he likes that I have come up with. They are both classic names, which is why I like them, and they are not super duper common.

It's funny you say Lucy is getting common because I don't know anyone named Lucy, but I know two couples who just named their babies Penelope and one that's pregnant and plans on naming their daughter Penelope. Anyway, I think they're both super cute, I like Penelope a little more though.

(probably because our dog's name is Lucy and that's throwing it off for me).

Middle name is going to be May - my grandma's middle name. I think it sounds really cute w/ both of them too.

I LOVE them both! I can understand why y'all are having a difficult time deciding. And unfortunately I won't be any help because I can't choose which I like better. Lucy is great because it reminds me of Lucille Ball, whom I love! And Penelope is great because of the uniqueness and versatility of the name. I love names that can be both cute (for when the babe is young) and classic/beautiful (for when your child is older)... and Penelope (Penny) definitely has that ability which I don't feel Lucy has AS much.

So, I guess I do have an opinion and favorite after all.... I'd go with Penelope

But, you can't lose with either name really, because they are BOTH beautiful and will match the beauty of your sweet baby girl!

I vote Penelope, but am partial because we have one! It is becoming more popular though. I like that there are a lot of potential nicknames with it - Penny, Ella, Nellie, so there is a lot of versatility.

I love them both! I would pick Lucy, just because my acquaintance circle is big into reality tv and would most likely ask me if I named her Penelope because of the Kardashians. I really love both though, and think they are great choices!
