So lucky me I got my period already :-q so I used a tampon well when I took it out I saw what looked like a dissolvable staple on it. I'm going to call the doctor in the morning. But is this normal I thought the staples "dissolved" not fall out
I had dissolvable staples as well. It's a crazy concept to me and I made my dr explain them at my follow up appointment because I thought I was so out of it after surgery I heard her wrong when she said dissolvable staples haha. That being said, she did pull the very end of one out of my incision that had not completely dissolved at my 6w appointment but I never found any during my first PP period so I'm no help with that. I agree with the other ladies though, call your doctor! That's what they are there for!
Dissolvable staples take months from what I've been told about them to dissolve, but I'm not 100% on that as I've never worked at a hospital that used them.
That is definitely a question for you surgeon. I'd be concerned if staples (whether dissolvable or not) were coming out of my uterus. Did you save the tampon for a professional inspection?

The dissolvable staples are used on your actual uterine incision. The ones people had removed at discharge (like I did) were on the external (skin) incision.
Like pp poster said, the parts within your tissue dissolve and some of the rest fall off. If they fell off inside your uterus they would come out with your period or other postpartum bleeding.
I would guess it's fairly common, but worth calling the doctor about.
