So I got my breast pump today! Super excited its the medela PISA. And of course I had to put it all together. And then I was curious so I tried it out. I had it on correctly as I did leak some but I didn't find it terribly uncomfortable like I thought I would. So silly FTM question. Does babies latch and breast feed feel different than that? Hurt more? Or does ir only hurt more because of the frequency of feedings? Do some moms not find breastfeeding painful at all?
I obviously only turned on the pump for maybe a minute and after getting used to it I thought it was fine. Is breastfeeding a whole new pain....or about the same? Or do I just had nipples made of steel lol
Re: breastfeeding vs pumping STM needed
I think it's different for everyone. Both my kids had very shallow latches and so yes, BF was very painful for me at first. I had bloody nips and everything. With both of them, but especially bad with my 2nd. At the worst, I would pump just so I didn't have to put their little mouths on my nipple because it hurt so bad. That probably sounds like we had a horrible BF-ing experience, but really it was only for those first couple of weeks. I BF-ed my kids for 14 and 12 months and once I got through the initial phase, it was not painful at all.
Pumping: Not painful, just annoying.
