Thanks you for your candid openness in the dirty little pregnancy secret thread. However, us FTMs are thoroughly traumatized (in summary: all of your outsides will swell and tear and hurt, all of your insides will be on the outside, take all the drugs and all the things from the hospital).

Please....(PLEASE!) post here how all of...that... Is worth it.

You will come out of it all with a little person more perfect then you even knew possible and you will be amazed that YOU created that person. It's a wild and emotional ride but when you finally get to hold your baby all of the bad won't seem to matter so much anymore.

For that moment when they lay your newly born baby on your chest. In that moment you become a new person. You cannot fully understand the love you will experience until it's happening. It's greater than your love for your husband, for your parents, for your friends, all combined. For all the reason PP have so eloquently said! To be that one person that can calm and smooth your baby. To feel her relax in your arms, fall asleep. To watch them grow and learn. I swear they learn new things every day! The coos, smiles, midnight snuggles when the whole house is asleep except the two of you, and you can just stare at them all night.

You really do push all the bad things to a small little corner of your mind. Labor, sleepless nights are all worth it. It is the most all consuming love you will ever know.

Alright, down pregnancy hormones...tears are flowing remembering all the good things.

My heart grew ten sizes the minute I had DD. I love her more than anyone (including DH and I really love him!) because of her I am a better person. I would do it all over again a million times and a million times worse for her.

Also watching her love on H and he love on her is really amazing, ditto for watching her with grandparents, cousins, etc.

Snuggling on the couch watching Disney movies and DD turns around and gives me a hug and kiss. It is the best thing in the world to see your kids happy and developing a little personality of their own.

Also, sometimes there are good things that happen with your body! My hair is thicker and way better since my first pregnancy. Also, before I got pregnant this time, my skin was much more clear than it had been before my first. Finally, sorry for TMI, but before my first pregnancy I would get a YI or UTI occasionally. Since that pregnancy, I haven't had any! Something about the pregnancy balancing out my pH. See, it's not all bad

I'm not going to lie it's been a rough toddler morning. Our art project went awry, waffles spilled on floor, the cat "tripped" DD, we had a fit about not being able to do something. Right now I can hear her in the bedroom "reading" books to her stuffed animals in the same exact intonation as I do when I read to her. It is the coolest thing.

The random "I love you so much mommy" and the 45 minutes of back and forth in the car saying "I love you more than _______." is awesome.

Because you will be at your wits end, think your child hs turned into devil and want to quit being parent. And then you will go to check on them at night and they look so much like an angel while sleeping that your heart will melt and you will be excited to do it all again the next day.

Also, despite what everyone says.... It's actually not all that bad giving birth. I had a traumatic one, but even then, I had forgotten it about 6mo out. With my second, easy delivery, I had forgotten the delivery a week out.

DD was a med-free labor and I felt like I was dying for a few hours...but then I had this amazing tiny person on my chest, looking up at me and holding on to my finger. I would have done it again the next day just to experience those very first moments with her and DH again. This amazing tiny human is the best thing to ever happen to me.
Also, don't let labor stories scare you too much! Every labor is different. I had no tearing and was up and walking around a few minutes after giving birth. Try to stay positive and remember - kegels, kegels, kegels!!

I had a pretty ideal L & D. And while recovery is gross, mine was quick. There hasn't been one day in the past year that I haven't been in awe of something my little guy did. (Even on the rough days). Every day my husband and I say something like "he's just so smart (funny, sweet, the cutest thing ever, blah blah blah)." It's almost embarrassing how in love I am with him.

For the tears that well up the first time you hear them say "I love you".

For the daily, crazy, simple things that only belong to you and your child. Mine fed the baby soup through my belly button today.

None of it's easy, but I promise it's all worth it.

You become so in love with this little person immediately and you would just do anything and everything to make them happy. It's a little insane how much love you feel for the first time when you finally have them in your arms. And it makes it so completely worth it.

P.S. I'm a little jealous everyone with toddlers gets to hear the random 'I love you' from their kid. My daughter has autism and is completely nonverbal. So reading all your stuff is making me all teary eyed! Maybe I'll get to experience that with this peanut!

Watching them grow and learn is amazing. They make holidays so much better and you get to experience everything again through their eyes. When they succeed at something they have been working towards your heart swells! They amazing you with their intelligence and empathy sometimes. This morning DH was telling the kids not to jump on me because my stomach hurt (MS) so DD tells me, "oh Mommy I'll make you feel better" and gave me kisses on the tummy.

You will never know how you lived before without knowing the overwhelming love you feel for your child! It is amazing how you can look at their face for the first time and see both you and your husband! You will never feel more needed and important then when they come to you for kisses to get rid of the pain from a skinned knee, or to scare away the monsters, or the need of that last I Love You in able to go to sleep at night. By far the best part is when my DS tells me he loves me because I am the best mommy is the whole world!

I remember the first time Marnie told DH she loved him. She had a pretty big speech delay, and she sounded like a robot. It was super funny. He was carrying her and she put her arms around his neck and went, "I. Love. You. Daddy."

Yesterday I told her I had to go see the doctor today. She tells me, "Ok, mommy. But don't cry. The doctor is *very* nice. So you don't have to cry to him."

(She cries when she's at the doctor)
