This thread is not being started to invoke drama, mud slinging, name calling or any other unpleasantness. It is simply a place for information gathering for myself.

I'm interested in opinions, (please state your own, not cut down someone else) on vaccination schedules. I'm also interested to hear @kaysa2‌ opinion.

I do a standard schedule for the most part, the only thing I do differently is I delay the birth Hep B and give it at 2,4,&6 months instead of birth,2,&6 months. I also spread out the 12 month vaccines over the 12, 15, & 18 month appointments because they become due for 6 shots at 12 months and to me that's a little much at one time. I believe a lot of pediatricians are starting to do this routinely because they aren't "technically" delayed because the range for these vaccines to be given is between 12-18 months. I do two at each visit: hep a and varicella @ 12 months, pcv and MMR @ 15 months, and dtap and hib @ 18 months (I would have saved MMR for 18 months but pedi recommended it at 15 months due to all the measles outbreaks)

We also do a mostly on schedule schedule. We delay Hep B, skip rotovirus and flu shots, and delay chicken pox (to avoid so many at the 12 month mark and I think MMR is more important).

DH is a doctor and we will be sticking to the standard schedule, we have no reason to delay. Little buddy with get his shots and stay a healthy baby boy.

I picked SS, because we only delay HepB (by a month or so) but the rest are done on schedule.

We only delayed hep B (and it was only by a couple days), but unless something occurs where she can't get vaccinated on the recommended schedule she will get her vaccines normally

Standard, but we're in Canada where Hep B isn't given until Grade 7, so I may have opted to delay that one if we lived in the US.

All my kids are on the standard schedule. I don't want to bring them to the doctor more than necessary. We'd be there multiple times a month if they were delayed, no thanks!

I was going to space it out, but I'm starting to think I might not since I don't want him in the germy doctors office around all those sick kids more than necessary. We delayed hep b by a couple of days.

We delayed hep B at birth and I'll probably end up spreading out the 12 month shots because 6 at once is a lot.

Conclusions - vaccines are safe and effective for 95% of the population. My personal opinion - people who do not get their kids vaccinated do not understand science at even the most rudimentary level. There is no excuse for not vaccinating a healthy child. There are a few, slim arguments for delaying some vaccinations, as indicated above, but generally parents delay vaccinations for a similar misunderstanding of how vaccines work and how they think their child's immune system works.

TLDR - vaccinate your child, on time. Not doing so is irresponsible not only to your own child, but to all the children who legit cannot have vaccinations.

My moms had some pretty bad reactions to certain vaccines throughout her life, so she makes sure not to get multiple vaccines at once to be able to narrow down which ones cause her to react. That was the reason I was considering having them spaced out over a few different visits instead of seven at once.
