DH wants to go tubing with our friends tomorrow. My qualms are that, not only do I have a hard enough time rolling around in bed without pain, so a tube is going to suck royally, but I have a fear of injury while pregnant. Going around a corner and having a tree jam into my stomach, or something of that nature. Its not a fast river, but its definitely work to navigate and make sure you're not hitting trees. WWYD? :-<

Re: WWYD: Tubing down the river
I personally wouldn't do it. I don't think you could harm the baby by crashing into a tree but what would sway my decision is the heat. (I live in Texas and even being outside in the backyard for a couple of minutes makes me light headed).
Could you call your OB and get their opinion? If you don't want to go, you can just say that the OB doesn't recommend it. I don't think my OB would be ok with it.

If it's mild and heat isn't a concern, I say go and enjoy!

I honestly don't think I would do it. Even if I could just hang out in the calm water. In Texas heat, stuck waiting for other people, and you might be uncomfortable. Sounds miserable to me.
Send him, and you go get a massage and mani/pedi!
Could you call your OB and ask what they think? At least it would give you someone else to blame for saying no.

Ok, so I love being out on the water and going to tubing however it would suck major to not be drinking (when everyone else is) and also just the length of time it will take.
It takes several hours and while it may be fun for a short spell, if you are at all uncomfortable you would be stuck out there for the duration.
Your friend who went last year sounds like a super trooper for doing it at 8 months. Maybe talk to her to get her real feelings on going while pregnant.

I'm annoyed to hear this. The more uncomfortable I get, the more I've been begging DH to let me go somewhere with a lazy river so I can float for a few hours. Can't they just let us have this one thing?!!

Holy shit! I'm glad I don't float your river! Have you thought about getting a two person raft (river safe raft of course)? That way, you can make DH paddle and you just sit back and enjoy. They are like $60-$80 here. Way better than just a donut tube
It sounds like you don't want to go but are afraid to get flack for it since your friend did it when she was 8 months pregnant.
Just lie and say your OB advised against it.
I agree! That's what we are doing now, camping and tubing for the Fourth. It's fun, stay safe and hydrated. I joke that no one would let the pregnant lady fall behind.
