Post nasal drip/Congestion

Anyone else dealing with this? On top of already not being able to breathe at night, I'm all congested and my throat is scratchy from post nasal drip. I know I can take sudafed but it hasn't been helping.

Re: Post nasal drip/Congestion

  • Since I had to stop my allergy med, yes. Every damn day. And it makes me nauseated too. I have found for me I can't sleep with air blowing on me. It's guaranteed to wake up with a sore throat. But my body is just weird sometimes

This probably has something to do with me too because I always sleep with a fan, but it's too hot not to :(

Can you check in with your doc to see if they are okay with you taking something like Zyrtec or Allegra? And maybe also try a saline nasal spray.

  • I use a neti pot when I'm congested. Life saver.

  • yes, horribly.  I asked OB on Monday and he said Sudafed or Tylenol Cold/Tylenol Sinus were all good.

  • Yes, I've been dealing with it for months. I can't take meds because I'm still nursing and the approved meds for pregnancy are the opposite for nursing. I've been treating it with essential oils and the neti pot. It has improved, but it's still enough to be annoying.

I don't use the Neti pot but I use the NeilMed Sinus Rinse, it's made by the same brand and basically the same. I agree deff a life saver! It's gonna have a LOT of pressure the first time you use it but it doesn't hurt. And take Tylenol cold and sinus, my doctor told me any Tylenol product is okay to use.

@conradgallagher, is it allergies or a cold?  We run a HEPA filter in our bedroom at night and that's helped me cut down on the allergy meds I need.

For allergies or a cold, I second the neti pot.  Such a lifesaver!  Doesn't eliminate the drip, but it really helps cut down on it.  My doc also okayed me to use my prescription nasal spray (rhinocort), and that helps a lot, thought I don't use it every day.
