Over the course of a few weeks fluid has been increasing down there… some thicker, but this am, it was wetting my shorts overnight! (not like a water breaking, but enough of a change to call the OB). Clear, but constant fluid. So, I tested positive for amniotic fluid with the Nitrazine strip test (testing pH) but negative for ferning. This is a whole new world to me, but bottom line my amniotic levels internally were not too different from 2 weeks ago and I was not pooling fluid as if my water had broken. (20 cm)
Needless to say, at L&D during the consent for treatment, they stated that if I had torn, they would be pulling the baby today. OMG! The hubby was out of town AND I didn't have my bag packed! Regardless, it was scary enough to think about, but they did say that sometimes mucus presence can give a positive (the strip turned bright blue and alerted the OB). I cried because of 1. Hormones, then 2. knowing that was not a good sign. Just wanted to post to share since we are all nearing the end of this journey… whenever it will end. I wondered if anyone else had these tests done, etc, too.
