If your LO got fever with 2 month vaccinations...

When did it start? Its been 12 hours and she's starting to get warm but nothing bad, almost 99 underarm temp. She's been sleeping most of the day with smiles in between so I think she feels ok. I'm trying to avoid Tylenol but its getting close to her 6 hour sleep stretch and I don't want it to spike in the night. Should I just check her in the middle of the night or give tylenol before? I don't want to hinder her immune response but also don't want her feeling yucky. I'm totally over thinking this I'm sure but any thoughts are really appreciated!!

  • Sullivan didn't need the Tylenol right away but about six hours in he started losing his mind and we definitely gave it to him. He only needed two doses, but it helped immensely in the fever/sleep department.

  • i gave DS tylenol when it started going up not necessarily when he got a fever just because he woke up in pain. then before bed i did too. they are too small to do anything for themselves so if giving tylenol for 2 days made him feel better and happy then i was happy

  • My pediatrician just advised against pre-medicating with Tylenol (prior to vaccines) but was fine with giving it later. I'd just give a dose to ensure your LO gets some good rest tonight.
  • LO's fever got up to 101.6 (rectal) maybe 10 or so hours after her shots, so I have her Tylenol at that point

  • I gave her a dose about 6 hours after when she was super cranky and felt a little warm. She felt better and slept well that night. Only 1 dose was needed. I would give it to her to make her feel better. Poor things don't know why they don't feel "right".

  • I just gave her tylenol. Hopefully she will sleep well even though I'm not! Haha! She was doing these really sad whimpers and I couldn't take it anymore. She has never done that so she must be starting to feel worse. I can't wait for this to be over so she can feel like her regular self again.

  • My daughter had a reaction to the oral vaccination she was projectile vomiting I had to take her to the ER
  • @khammond3‌ That is so scary! I'm sorry your daughter had to go through that. So does that mean she can't have that one anymore?

  • We gave LO tylenol when she stararted wailing in pain and had very light fever. That was around the 6-7 hour mark since the vaccines. That seemed to help her coz the fever did not increase after that and she wasn't in pain (I knew since I could swaddle her without her making the "in-pain" face that she made earlier) either.
  • Poor baby. I gave my LO tylenol because it seems as though she was in pain. I don't think tylenol would hurt before a stretch of sleep!
  • I'd say about 6ish hrs was when I decided to use the tylenol. We did half a dose and it worked.
