Ovulation on Clomid?

I took Clomid days 5-9. I am patiently waiting for a positive on an OPK so I can do my 1st IUI. I am on day 13. My Re said you usually ovulate a little later than normal on Clomid. What day did you ovulate on Clomid and was it later than usual?

Hi:

I've gone through two cycles of Clomid (100 mg 5-9 first cycle 4-8 second cycle) and during both I ovulated around the same day I normally would (CD12/13). My OPK tests usually fade into the dark control line color over two days and after seeing a faint line on CD10 I scheduled an ultrasound, but turned out I wasn't ready to trigger until CD12. My doctor told me not to bother with the OPK tests since I was being monitored and I would be using a trigger to ovulate.

I have been on Clomid 50mg for 3 cycles. The first 2 cycles I ovulated around the same time that normally do. This cycle (#3) I ovulated earlier, day 15, but that's also due to the use of Ovidrel trigger shot. Good luck!

Last cycle I had pos opk and temps to confirm on cd17 this cycle it wasnt til cd24.

Not being monitored w u/s. RE just wants me to use the OPK the first time. If it doesn't work then next month I do u/s and trigger shot.

Wow. That's pretty surprising for a RE. I hope you don't over-respond.

Both Clomid cycles I had, I didn't grow follicles on my own. I knew that because of the monitoring so I took an extra 5 days of Clomid. After 5 days at 50mg and then 100mg for 5 additional days I ovulated on day 26. The next cycle, after 5 days at 100mg and then 5 days at 150mg I ovulated on day 21. I don't think I would have ovulated either time without the additional dose of Clomid.

I hope you can get some monitoring for your Clomid. I encourage you to advocate for yourself. Good luck.

Hi there, I ovulated on my own on cd 17-I did opks every day from cd 10 and also went in for daily blood work to check for the lh surge along wih every other day follie ultrasounds. This routine was a bit of a pain in the neck but it put my mind at ease knowing I was not going to miss my actual ovulation for the iui and also to be reassured that the follicles were growing and not actively multiplying by the thousands like a gremlin after a bath.

I questioned my RE several times about the monitoring. I even called on Tuesday to express my concerns again and I actually sensed a slight attitude from the nurse bc I have been asking this question so many times. It's why I may change RE's if this first IUI doesn't work. She told me because my husband and I have minor issues along with the fact that I ovulate on my own, the first step for us is the IUI with Clomid along with timed intercourse. I've been posting about this all week as it has super stressed me out. At this point I have to trust my doctor an hope it works. I am considering switching RE's though, just waiting to see what happens this cycle. Thank you everyone that wishes me the best, wishing everyone going through the same thing lots of luck as well.

I took 50 mg days 3-7 and ovulated on day 17. This is comparable to the one natural cycle in which I ovulated. Definitely push for the monitoring. OPKs can be very tricky and subjective and it would be nice for more definitive measures that the RE can provide, plus the peace of mind knowing you are not over responding.

The higher my dose goes the earlier I respond. At 50mg I wouldn't even trigger until CD17-18 and ovulate 36 hrs later. Now that I've worked my way up to 200mg I usually trigger at CD12 and ovulate CD14.

Sorry your RE won't do monitoring. I can't imagine that stress that not knowing must cause. If they won't offer you the treatment you should be entitled to, I would totally switch drs after this cycle.

I typically ovulated around day 18 on clomid and also last cycle on femara which was actually normal or a bit early for me. Good luck to you and I would agree to look for a second opinion if they won't monitor you on the next cycle. I don't know if you have insurance coverage but it would drive me crazy to pay out of pocket for an IUI without having a good grasp on timing and follicle response.

Thank you, I agree about the monitoring. It's so frustrating but I'm going to start to look into another RE. I am paying oop, not to mention at 38 time is ticking away.
