Toys for airplane

I know others have posted about this, but I'm having a hard time finding it. We leave for Florida on Thursday and I'm trying to decide what to bring on the airplane to keep LO occupied. I have lots of snacks already, but am trying to think of toys that would work well on a plane. Any suggestions? We don't have a tablet and there won't be tv's on the plane.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Toys for airplane

  • Snacks are all that have really helped with DD. We didn't bring any toys on our last flight just her lovey incase she wanted to nap. DD doesn't watch TV and couldn't figure out the games on the iPad so we mostly people watched and ate.

  • Snacks! Snacks and more snacks!

The only toy DS paid any attention to was my iPad with MMCH, Bubble Guppies and Paw Patrol downloaded on. We took headphones but he would just take them on and off constantly. With the noise of the plane we just kept the volume on low.

When we flew last month I definitely went overboard with our DD.  I had lots of snacks and toys and our ipad.  I also brought a coloring book and crayons which is what she mostly played with.  She didn't really pay attention to the ipad.  It was also only a 2hr flight so between the people watching, snack and coloring book we were fine.

  • Books, magna doodle (that was a great deal of fun for DS), my cell phone, a small blanket or stuff animal (we played peek-a-boo), lots of snacks, suckers (just make sure that you hold onto it if you are nervous), finger puppets, stickers (just make sure you remove them from the plane before you get off).

We waited to board until most of the passengers were on the plane. I sent DH ahead with all of our stuff. Then when we got on we focused on people watching till we got up in the air. Then I broke out my bag of goodies. At last resort, DS loved putting the window shade up and down and got a kick out of the light above the seats being turned on and off.

  • I took a ton of things on the ride out there, books, crayons/color book, his stuffed animal, etc. But he just sat on our laps and there was NO room for him to really do anything. So he played with the window shade, and watched his shows on the iPad...if you are flying first class or if your LO has their own seat it might be completely different experience.

For the trip back all I packed for him was his sippy, snacks, a few diapers and a small container of wipes...and the ipad. It was sooo much easier.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I forgot all about Magna Doodles... I might have to run to the store tonight!
