Do you feel pain/baby on one side more than the other?

For the last two weeks I've had MAJOR round ligament pain. The Dr. confirmed everything was ok but it's interesting because while I cramp all over, the stabbing/jabby pains occur on mostly on the left side only. Coincidentally, when I feel the baby move (aka bubbles & flutters) it's also on the left side. I'm planning to ask on my next visit out of curiosity (maybe my babes just likes to chill over there?) but just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this? Of course, I've self diagnosed it as the baby hanging out to the left and banging around on my nerves and ligaments over there!  (Although I'm sure that's not it at ALL but I like reasons) :)

  • I haven't felt the baby move yet, but anytime I get small cramps or twinges (which I've had throughout and baby is fine), it's is on the right side about 95% of the time.  I keep forgetting to ask the my OB or midwives.  I wonder if it has something to do with where the baby implanted?

    Good point! I'm so curious if it has any meaning mainly because I'm a little obsessed with the science of pregnancy. It's all so cool!

  • I feel mine LO on my right side mostly and that's where I have the most round ligament pain so I'm assuming he's tucked up there more than the left side.

  • I always feel my baby on the left side more, but still pretty close to the middle. My ultrasound showed her basically folded in half. I'm not sure why, guess she likes to be that way?
    ~~~My baby girl is due November 4th, 2014~~~
  • With DS I always felt him on the left side. With this little one I've always felt her on the right side. Totally normal.
  • Once baby gets a little bigger, it usually hangs out on the left side. What my doctor told me is that when the uterus starts crowding the other internal organs, the liver pushes down on the right side, so baby usually retreats to the left because there's more room there.
    But that's kind of mid 20-week onward. :)
  • I had lots of cramps this morning when I woke up.  I get it usually in the morning.  I spoke to my OB at my 14 week app yesterday and he said its completely normal and its most likely round ligament pain.  It feels so strange though and actually hurts. I haven't noticed if its on one side more than the other but I'll pay attention and see.  I can't wait to actually feel the baby.
    All Welcome
  • It's funny because I'm 23 weeks and all of my pain is on my right side but I've never felt the baby kick/move on the right, he has always been on the left. My husband asked me why he's not using all this room and hanging out on both side, and I just told him that he's small enough that I guess he doesn't need it all right now. I'm sure when he gets bigger he'll need all the space he can get.
  • I haven't felt any baby movement yet but I always have ligament pain on my right side. I never feel anything on my left side!
  • I thought I was the only one with this problem! My baby apparently likes to hang out on my left side as well, and I cramp quite a bit as a result as well!
  • Not really feeling pain or movement, but when I lay on my back, my uterus always seems to be flopped over on the left side.  I can feel it with my hands, maybe my ligaments are still stretchy from DD, so it's not sitting right?
