Possible TMI (bewbs) question

so I stopped breastfeeing DS over 4 months ago now...and every time I take a hot shower or there's any other *cough* stimulation to my boobs, I notice some white dots on the nipples and one day I squeezed and actually a good amount of milk came out...did this happen to anyone else after weaning? how long does it take to 100% dry up? am I going to be lactating forever???!

Google only tells me tips for dealing with engorgement when I try to ask about milk drying up...so that's no help

Re: Possible TMI (bewbs) question

  • I'm pretty sure this is an "everyone is different" situation. I think it's totally normal for some women to continue to lactate well after their babies have weaned. I also think it's normal to completely dry up with no warning.

  • It can take months or even for some women over a year to completely dry up. I weaned DD1 at 16 months and still had milk for close to a year.

  • thanks! I just wanted to make sure this is nothing to be concerned about...I wasn't sure if it was normal or not

  • I never breastfed and my boobs didn't stop leaking until she was 6mo old!

  • I stopped nearly 4 months ago and I can still express a few drops. Even more TMI, but DH says it's salty and disgusting, not like my milk used to taste.

I actually used some this morning to put it on a cut (might as well right?) and I noticed it's really sticky and thick...not like it used to be

Ha, I used some on a sunburn the other day!
  • I could still squeeze out milk for about 3 years after I weaned DD. Not sure why I kept trying, I guess curiosity.

So... along these lines... did your bewbs ever go back to a reasonable size, even though you were/are still lactating, or am I going to be stuck with these giant things for the rest of my lyfe?

Mine went back to normal after DD, but the stretching from a second pregnancy/BF has done them in. My supply has tanked and my boobs are low and sad these days.

Mine pretty much went back to the pre-pregnancy size, but they were never that big to begin with...
  • More TMI, but what about nipples? Will they return to normal size? Arreola and all..

  • My LC said she could still squeeze drops out and she hadn't BF in 30 years. And my aunt could still squeeze milk out 8 years after stopping BFing.
I guess I'm never buying Neosporin again :)
