Hi Everyone,
I have been lurking for most part & am new to the IF board, I have been on 3T so far.
Both my DH & I are 35, we have been trying over a year. We've had 4 IUIs with no BFPs. DH is on the Kidney Transplant list & could start Dialysis at any time. The sperm count and quality apparently can be adversely affected by dialysis & we are trying to get decent samples frozen to keep our chances alive.
We have our IVF consult today! I am in obese range BMI wise - my BMI is 37. I have mostly heard that it can affect IVF success but some folks have reassured me that its not always the case. I am very torn between moving on to IVF immediately or taking a month or two off to get some weight off me because we have some frozen sperm.
Any advise or pointers are very very welcome!!! Thanks!!
DH : 36, has Chronic Kidney Disease, on dialysis & is waiting on the transplant list (average wait for B+ is 5 years)
Me: 36, Hypothyroidism, PCOS, BMI 32, need to be done with "child bearing" ASAP so that I can be a Kidney donor (was fun realizing we didn't as much time as we thought :-/ )
We're TTC#1
IUI #1 : 5mcg Letrozole (CD 3-7) + Ovidrel Trigger + Had the one follicle = BFN (March 2014)
IUI #2 : 5mcg Letrozole (CD 3-7) + 150 iu Bravelle on CD9 (after much begging!) + Had the one follicle = BFN (April 2014)
7th May 2014 - changed REs, this one seems to care (we think....)
IUI #3 : 7mcg Letrozole (CD 3- 7) + 75 iu Bravelle (CD 8-12) + CD12 Scan 5/16 + Had 3 follicles (2 under 15mm) = BFN(May 2014)
IUI #4 : 7mcg Letrozole (CD 3- 7) + 75 iu Bravelle (CD 8-12) + CD12 Scan 5/16 + Had 1 follicle + DH gave best sample so far = BFN(June 2014)
IVF#1 - ER Only Cycle Sept-Oct 2014, 17 eggs Retrieved, 14 mature, 10 fertilized, 6 made it to Blast & post PGS 5 were not viable due to chromosomal abnormalities
Not sure where we go from here...
We're parents to two very adorable, bratty, affectionate & goofy Bernese Mountain Dog pups who would very much like a 2 legged baby brother or sister of their own!

Dx: Unexplained Infertility / AMA
BFP after 4th IUI cycle with Gonal F + Ovidrel on March 2014 | EDD 12/7/14 | MMC on 4/14/14
IUI#5 with Gonal F and Ovidrel trigger on 6/6 - BFN
On to IVF #1 with a new RE. Started Gonal F and Menopur on 8/15. Added Ganirelix on 8/24. Trigger on 8/26 for ER on 8/28. 8R 7M 3F. Transferred all 3 on 8/31. BFP on 9/11 | EDD 5/20/15 - Beta #1: 56.7. Beta #2: 97. Beta #3: 1148. Beta #4: 3559. Beta #4: 7678. MMC confirmed on 10/13. D&C on 10/14 at 9w. Confirmed male with Trisomy 14.
On to IVF #2 in March. CCS Testing on 2 embies. No go. Waiting to start IVF #3 in July. Surprise BFP on 6/14! EDD - 2/20/16 - Beta #1: 121.4. Beta #2: 236.4. Beta #3: 2014.

We've been working on baby #1 since July 2013 using Open ID donor sperm. 8 IUI attempts with 5 actual IUIs and one chemical pregnancy. We have one fresh IVF cycle under our belts as well as a FET. I have endometriosis and a uterine septum that was corrected via surgery in November 2013.
11/14/14 - Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good.
12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2
12/22/14 - Saline u/s and endometrial scratch (All was clear and OUCH!)
1/2/15 - Began stimming for IVF #2

We had a good consult today & went over a ton of stuff & has resulted in an interesting plan...
RE said the BMI itself isn't much of an issue with TTC but with egg quality and hormonal balance etc, trying to lose atleast 10Lbs is always helpful especially because you gain Lbs during a cycle too. She said if I was up to it she would like to see me lose some weight.
I am Indian (so basically of south east Asian origin) & she did some research when she was a fellow a while ago on south east Asians & their study showed that SE Asians metabolize the IVF meds/hormones differently that it can affect implantation. So my IVF cycle is weird tuned to that research information.
I take July & August off, work with a dietician and trainer and get myself to lose some weight. September (4th-ish) should be will be my CD1 for that time & I will start the antagonist protocol then till egg retrieval. Once egg retrieval is done, they get the embryos ready & freeze them at 5dp retrieval.
I have to then take "off time" for at least couple months to get my hormones and system to recover etc. before the transfer cycle. For now, we are shooting for a November or December transfer.
Then came the finance person...Yikes, IVF is expensive !!!!

Plan: "Quick Start IVF"/antagonist protocol with Follistim, Ganirelix, Ovidrel and progesterone suppositories (yay)
High AMH (11) and Low BMI= low doses of everything to prevent OHSS
July 27, 2014: Started Follistim injections for ten days
July 31, 2014: U/S= 20 follicles, 8.5 lining, E2 is good, Ganirelix for 4 days starting 8/2
August 4, 2014: 14 follicles on-track, good lining, Trigger 8/6
August 9, 2014: 9 ICSIed/ 5 embryos; aiming for a 5dt on 8/13
August 13, 2014: 5DT of 1 4BA almost-hatching blastocyst (Please hang in, Little Bug!)
August 14, 2014: We have 3 frosties! Hope they're having fun hanging out together.
