How are you doing? Doing pretty well. I sprained my ankle Sunday evening, but it's starting to feel better. I was carrying Ben and my foot found a hole in my front yard (I'm a total klutz). As I started to fall, I twisted my whole body so I wouldn't land on Ben, but of course I hurt myself. But Ben didn't get hurt, so I'm totally okay w/ the ankle sprain.
Milestones? Meh, nothing really. Although he did break something for the first time, so I guess that's a milestone of sorts, lol! Ben was climbing on the couch and we discovered he is now tall enough to reach a shadow box I have hanging on the wall with a bunch of my elephant collection displayed in it. He grabbed one of the elephant figurines, and when he realized I was coming after him, he chucked it across the living room and it smashed. I feel like we're super close to a language leap, as well. He's really getting more vocal, and I think I've noticed a few new words, but not consistently enough yet to officially call them new words.
Challenges? Climbing, headbutting, and general mischief making. I'm finding this age to be particularly challenging. I know he's not old enough to know better (sometimes) but when I tell him no (or sit down, etc, etc, etc) and he laughs at me then ignores me, I get very frustrated. I find myself needing to take mini timeouts to calm down so I don't yell at him. Makes me feel like a bad mom when I start to lose my temper.
Funny/ Cute Stories? Ben is obsessed with sitting in things- boxes, laundry baskets, my big stock pot. The other day, he put an empty diaper box into a laundry basket and proceeded to take the next 20 minutes figuring out how to climb into the diaper box. Once he got in there, he did a little victory dance, then sat down and chilled in there for about the next 20 minutes. It was so cute to watch him figure it all out.
QOTW- We're going to try our hands at taking him to the fireworks. There's an amazing display in our town and a really great viewing area not too far from our house. We'll see how it ends, lol! Working the farmers' markets Saturday and Sunday as usual, so Friday will be it for our celebrating. We'll cook out both nights, though.
How are you doing? Doing well! It's been a busy week in the Kiki house. I got cleared by the rheumatologist last week (negative for scleroderma) so we're officially TFAS! Also, the house behind SIL went up for sale and my ILs bought it. They need a smaller, easier to take care of house for when they get older so we're going to be renting it in the mean time. It's a really nice house and much bigger, so we're excited!
Milestones? P has added "hi" and "hey" to his vocabulary. He also got his first haircut on Monday!
Challenges? Still working on the transition to table food. Everything I read says about how they shouldn't be eating any purees at this age and blah blah blah. Well we're trying, and he's got to eat something!
Cute/Funny Stories? I gave P a grocery store flyer that came in the mail yesterday and he took about 1 minute to rip it to shreds. He was squealing like he was opening gifts lol
QOTW- What are your 4th of July plans? Will you be taking your LO(s) to see any fireworks displays? We're going to my ILs. They always have a super huge cookout and fireworks.
How are you doing? Doing well, just chugging along.
Milestones? No big milestones here.
Challenges? Eating. One day she's super picky and doesn't want anything I give her and the next day, she's eating 'round the clock! It's so hard to do any kind of meal planning.
Cute/Funny Stories? She has discovered that the most fun thing in the world is falling on top of me while I'm lying on the floor. I was on the phone last week with my mom, so I decided to lie on the floor next to PJ while I talked. Then the next thing I know *oof*, she landed right on my stomach and knocked the wind out of me. She just laughed and laughed and laughed.
QOTW- What are your 4th of July plans? Will you be taking your LO(s) to see any fireworks displays? We're actually heading to Denver tomorrow to see the IL's. We'll cook out, do some hiking, some rafting, and the zoo. I hope they have a good fireworks display because I'm sure PJ will love that!
