mucus plug?

can anyone describe to me what it looks like and can you lose it in pieces.... i had an internal yesterday and was 1 to 2 cm dilated.... i know its normal to spot but while i was in the bath tub i had mucusy brownish colored pieces of stuff floating around.

I think huge boogers. I had an internal Monday and had a TEENY piece come out yesterday. Now of course, I obsessively look every time I pee. Why does prenancy make me so obsessive? This happened when I spotted early on in pg too...
