Still "eating" every hour

Anyone else have an 8 wk old who wants to eat every hour? I put "eat" because I think sometimes she's just using me too soothe like a paci (wish shed take an actual paci) It's fine now while I'm on maternity until September but I'm nervous for when I have to leave her how she'll adjust. I also have a wedding to attend Saturday night and I'm worried she won't settle down to sleep w daddy feeding her bm bottles. Anyone else??

Re: Still "eating" every hour

  • Yep. During the day ds could sit on my book all day. Mostly for comfort. But will eat about every hour. Maybe 2-3 if he sleeps. It's wearing on my nips though. It's the comfort sucking that's irritating them as when I had a couple day break I was almost pain free.

However I found after the 6 week spurt it's not a daily thing. Yesterday was a lot. He seems to want more sleep than before (he's a horrible day time napper)

DH and I might have to discuss the paci despite us really not wanting to give him it. He won't take our fingers anymore. Knowing my luck he probably won't take the paci either.

  • I think my lo wants to eat anytime he is near me at almost 9 weeks. He will often only eat from one side and want to eat again an hour later. I offer the other side but he doesn't want it

Maybe you're like me I notice when I pump righty produces two times the amount as lefty!

Wow! I feel like you and I have discussed this before...how we had difficulty w day naps and now bam miss Brooke is sleeping like every hour! Guess our babies are very similar in their leap/growth spurt schedules :)
  • My little guy is 5 weeks and does the same thing! It's tiring!

I finally got him to take a pacifier though. He hated the hospital one and now he uses the Mam infant ones. Seems to fit his little mouth better.

Must be! I'm totally not opposed to him sleeping more if he needs it. But it would be nice if I would put him down drowsy and walk away like others can. Seems like a mythical unicorn at the moment.
  • Mine is right now- he is 8 weeks. I downloaded the app wonder weeks, there is also a book. It really helps me realise the phases & what they need

+1 on tje mythical unicorn. I can't even put DD down when she's passed out cold, never mind drowsy...

All I can say is thank God for you ladies and these posts. This is exactly DD every night. She's great during the day, eats every 2-3 hours, takes decent naps, can even put herself to sleep (sometimes) in her swing. By 9pm when we're trying to do bedtime it's like someone flipped a switch. She just wants to marathon nurse. And if I think she's asleep, as soon as I pull away she wakes and starts rooting and crying. Forget trying to put her down. I think most of the time she just likes having my nip in her mouth. And she won't take a paci either. I totally commiserate.

I know this won't last forever. At the same time I have visions of her as a teenager still needing my boob to fall asleep. Lol. It's amazing what disturbing images sleep deprivation can conjure up!

  • Have you tried squirting some milk on a paci? That worked for us.

I hope you can catch a break soon. I also second wonder weeks.
