3rd Trimester

newborn sizes

seem pointless to anyone else? I got a bunch of cute baby clothes for christmas, all of it in newborn size. I'm not sure if he even has time to wear them all. :(

Re: newborn sizes

  • I thoguht this too but BF's baby is 3 weeks old and is in newborn clothes and they are a little bit big still.  He wasn't a small baby either (he was 7lb 12 oz when born).  I have NO newborn stuff so I hope I get a few things from the shower.

  • My little dude can only fit in newborn stuff. He's a long way from fitting in 0-3 lol.
  • Yeah, at 9lbs 12oz DD#1 wore like one of her newborn sized outfits - she was straight into 0-3m.

But I guess you never know, babies come in all sizes!

  • We don't have much NB clothes, a few though. Depending on how big she is we might have to get more.

  • DD was 7lbs 5 ounces, and went down almost a pound.  DH had to go buy some preemie clothes to fit her for the first 3 weeks.
  • I'd keep the tags on most of the stuff and exchange it for larger sizes later.
  • We got a few cheap onsies in NB size for $3 apiece the other day at Walmart... just in case. My neice was so small that her 0-3s didnt fit and my hubby and I had to go get her some clothes since SIL was recovering still... better to spend the $15 and have a few IMO.

  • I'm actually worried that we don't have enough. I even bought some 'up to 7lbs' clothing.
  • wow, I'm surprised. Maybe he will be able to fit them. I sincerely hope so, because they are sooo adorable.

  • With DD she was too small for newborn sizes at first and really grew into them at almost 3 months. I thought that by then she would have been into 3-6 month sizes but not yet. She was also born over 8 pounds so she was not a tiny baby!
  • I got a couple of newborn outfits at my shower,  but not many.  I went to the consignment shop, spent less than $20 and got him 4 sleepers in NB sizes.  I think I have about 4 long sleeve onesies, a couple pairs of pants and the sleepers.  My mom and I sorted through the 0-3 month sleepers and pulled out the smallest looking ones in case he's big or in case we just run out of clean clothes.  They're all washed and ready to go.  If he's a tiny little guy I can always send my MIL out to buy more clothes for him but I wanted at least a few outfits on hand without spending a ton of money.
