Pregnancy nightmares

Continuing with the sleeping issues... Have you had nightmares about your baby while pregnant?

Last night I dreamed that there was a mistake in my baby's birth certificate, he was named after a girl and I started to argue with people because of that.  Weeks ago I had a worse nightmare, where I gave birth my son, but together with him was a death twin, it was a horrible nightmare!

But I've also had dreams that were really strange, like I was breastfeeding my baby and I was dropping so much milk that my son could drown with it.

Re: Pregnancy nightmares

  • I haven't had nightmares about the baby - other really bad nightmares yes.  Most of my dreams involving the baby are that they baby is a boy ( we are team green) and that I sleep through labor and feel nothing and suddenly the baby is there.

I think the crazy dreams are all just a part of being pregnant.  I have been told it doesn't get any better once the baby comes either.

  • No real nightmares, but last night I dreamed that I have birth at an nunnery and then somehow immediately ended up doing this really shady undercover work with a character from a show we've been watching a lot, and I kept having to stop and check my pad and the nurse kept interrupting our bad guy chase to press on my uterus. Then I realized that is forgotten to tell DH is had the baby. Pregnancy dreams are so strange.

The other day I dreamed that I went into labor and my 14 year old SIL had to drive me to the hospital. I had to teach her how to drive and navigate driving downtown for her. Worst part was she was driving my car, my biggest fear was that she would wreck it lol

  • A few weeks ago I dreamed by baby broke out of my stomach through my skin like an alien. We went to the ER in my dream and they said it was fine and happened all the time. Also, one of baby's hands had 11 fingers, but it was fine because the extra ones would go away as the baby grew......crazy..... I was relieved at 10 fingers and 10 toes at our A/S.

  • The other night I dreamed I shot two people in gang related violence outside my grandmother's house.  It was kind of traumatic...I've never even touched a gun!

  • I was going to save this for FFFC, but it fits here. The other night I had a dream that DH and I smoked pot with our 2 year old.  I was horrified that it was happening even as I was dreaming it, and I woke up completely traumatized.  Where the hell does a dream like that even come from?!

  • I don't know if this counts as a nightmare but I had this dream that Rob Pattinson was the father of my baby (wtf not even really attracted to him) and I was really upset because he was trying to take me to the UK and I didn't want my baby born there. Lol Otherwise all my nightmares are other things like recently was something happening to my dog. I can't imagine the nightmares once the baby gets here.

  • Only thing remotely close to a nightmare I've had was that I had twin girls (I'm having ONE BOY). And I was so unprepared and couldn't handle two. I'd be holding them and forgetting to hold their heads, so their heads would be bobbling all over the place. And the house was so unorganized so when I had to change a diaper, the diapers were in one place while the wipes were somewhere else and I couldn't find the changing pad. Then I thought to place one of the babies in a swing while I got everything together to change her and realized all of our baby stuff was blue b/c we were supposed to have a boy. I was so stressed and kept yelling at my family members that they jinxed me.

FYI - my mom and aunt wanted me to have a girl so b/c they can't identify his junk on the u/s (mind you they can't even identify the leg when I point it out to them!) they keep telling me stories of women who were told they were having a boy and ended up with a girl. And for a while they kept telling me that they think I'm having twins and that one of the babies could be hiding behind the other hence the reason we haven't seen an extra baby on the NUMEROUS ultrasounds we've had. I pay them no attention and usually laugh at the lunacy but I guess somehow it seeped into my unconscious. lol

  • I have been having terrible nightmares multiple times a night since I got pregnant. Most of them aren't baby related which is good, but thay are always super gorey and scary. DH works overnight as well so I usually wake up alone. =/ this might be the worst part of pregnancy.
  • I keep having freaky dreams about this baby.  In the worst one, I gave birth in a hospital bed w/o any nurses/doctors present, and I could not find anyone to cut the damn cord.  I'm walking around the hospital trying to get someone to do it, but they keep telling me they are too busy.  Meanwhile, I'm trying to diaper this baby and he keeps trying to slither away (like a snake or lizard) to bite other babies.

  • Yes! So many. Last one was awful. I'm a hospital nurse and we had another nurse get kicked in the stomach a few weeks ago by a terrified autistic patient. I keep dreaming a patient traps me in a corner and repeatedly kicks me in the stomach. Ahhhh!
  • Once I got pregnant, everybody started to dream about my baby's gender and my mom is still reluctant that I will have a boy, her housemaid (who is like a sister in my family) is still saying that I will have a girl, even it was SO OBVIOUS in the u/s that it is a boy.

  • Funny you should post this today because my dreams have been much calmer since first trimester when they were super vivid.  Last night I had a nightmare that I started bleeding.  It scared the crap out of me.

  • I posted this awhile ago, but I had a dream that I poop-birthed a bunch of sea creatures, and I didn't know how to break the news to my husband.

Not a baby nightmare, but last week I dreamed I was on one side of train tracks and my immediate family (husband and my mom, dad, and sister) were on the other side. I could see the train start to derail but they couldn't. I started running away and screaming for them to run the other way. I escaped by scaling a wall and then climbing a tree (this should have alerted my brain that this was obviously not real life), but I knew the train had crashed into where they were. I woke myself up gasping for air after finding my mom and dad's bodies and being too scared to look for my DH and sister.

Yikes, sorry if that was a downer story. But you are not alone with the wacky dreams! I think it's an anxiety outlet for me.

  • What about other people dreaming about the baby? My husband's aunt dreamed that I was having a boy, she was the only one in dreaming that before we knew the sex (a boy), my husband dreamed about a girl and my mom did too.

Last week my father had a dream that the baby was born and that he was very active and looking all around, also that he born without hair and with white skin (my baby will have a mix of many races, he could be white or somewhat tanned skin).

I had to add this in there! It would be great to sleep through labor; however in one of my dreams I had to be induced and they had to give me pitocin (SP?) and in my dream, they put one IV in my wrist and the other on the inside of my mouth in my cheek! My mouth started going numb and eventually fell out and the pitocin was yellow and started running in my mouth.  Very weird vivid dream! Then DH took the baby and wouldn't let me hold him.  He was a total baby hog (which he I think he will be anyways! lol)

  • I've been having nightmares this time around too.  It makes me sad because I had the most A. MAZ. ING. sex dream with my first... I'm very disappointed actually.

  • I had a dream recently that I was at a college and it was under attack. I had DD with me when I ran into some gunmen and one shot at me but I got away. I kept thinking, "How dare you shoot at a pregnant woman!" But we got the campus on lockdown but people were still able to go in and out as they pleased...which defeats the purpose of a lockdown. And somehow I lost DD and I had no idea where DH was and I was trying to text him but you know how you can never get something right in your dream? I just couldn't type properly on the phone. Thankfully I woke up at this point!

I had this one a few days ago. I posted it in the Saturday Check-In, but this is more appropriate.

I dreamt that I went into the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. I saw that my belly button had popped out! Something I haven't been looking forward to happening. It was sticking out about an inch or so and was pretty painful. It started reacting to my touch like my nipples do. It got stiff and sensitive. Then I noticed I could push it back in. I did and it stayed for a while. Then I looked again and it was out again, buy really large. It could fill my hand and when I squeezed it, that milky substance that has been coming out of my breasts started coming out of that thing. I held it in again, but I kept coming out. Each time it was different, longer, see through. It had a sensation like when you try and reload a spring. When it was see through it was about a foot long and had a cord like thing inside it. I was worried that it was important for my baby and that pushing it in would hurt her somehow. Then it went back and I mostly woke up and couldn't get back to bed.

  • LOL @TheOtherJacobsons

Last night I had a dream where my younger sister was pregnant (she is actually single in all ways) and about to start labor and we took her to a hotel and put her in an empty bathtub, my mom was there and she was so angry because my sister was pregnant that ignored everything that was happening, I felt terribly sad for my sister, then she began to have contractions with the worst pain ever and I didn't want to keep in that scene because it was too sad for me, as my sister was alone in that process, then I heard her screaming and I woke up with her scream in my mind.
