Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

I really just want off this roller coaster!

I took Cytotec for a blighted ovum on June 12th.  I had heavy bleeding for a week, passing large clots, etc.  This was followed by another week of spotting.  I had stopped feeling all pregnancy symptoms shortly after we realized we had miscarried.  However, this past week I'm starting to feel these symptoms all over again.  The exhaustion is coming back, the bloating, the sore boobs, super sensitive nipples, etc.  I still have some OPK's laying around the house, so I tested thinking maybe it was possible that I was ovulating or something.  For 7 straight days, they all came back blarring positive!  I quit testing after 7 days.  Yesterday, I decided to stop on my way home for a HPT and guess what.... still positive.  I haven't called the dr. back yet.  Mainly because I really don't want a D&C.... can't afford one and really want to go through this whole process as "naturally" as possible.

I just want everything to go back to normal.  Miscarriage is so exhausting and emotionally draining.  Thanks for listening ladies!  I'm just having an emotional day.

  • I'm so sorry that you are having a rough time.  I know what you mean, last night my boobs were sore again after my m/c last Wednesday.  Yes, the roller coaster and mind tricks really, really sucks.  Sending you lots of (((HUGS))) and I'm hope it's over for both of us soon!

  • Hey Johanna, did the doctor do an ultrasound or anything to make sure your body passed all the tissue? Maybe you can do that instead of assuming you need a D and C. Good luck!

  • rmpar29 - I'm sorry to hear that you're on a roller coaster ride too.  Yes, hopefully we get over this hump soon!

ImJessesGirl - They haven't done another ultrasound yet.  :(  I called today and they're having me come in tomorrow morning to check my HCG levels.  She asked if I thought I got everything out.  Ummm, how would I know that!?!?!  lol  Sort of a silly question for them to ask.

It really seems like they are dragging their feet on this for you. It seems odd that they administered Cytotec on June 12 and it's now freaking July and they're even mentioning a follow up. That's odd to me.

  • Maybe a second dose of cytotec? It is normal for hcg levels to drop slowly...I had my d&c 3 weeks ago and also still have positive hpts. Big hugs. I hope you get some answers at your appt.
It depends on the person and how high your levels where to start with. If you're worried about it you can always call your doctor. If there's concern they can run blood work to see if the levels are dropping or not.
