August Mommas

This check-in is for mommas who lost a baby due in the month of August (any year), and any late loss mommas who gave birth and lost their precious angel in August.

New to the check in: Welcome. I'm so sorry you find yourself here but hope you find the love and support you need from the amazing women on TTCAL. Tell us a bit about yourself, where you are in the TTCAL process, and don't forget to include your August EDD or birth date.

I got my FET protocol with a tentative transfer date about 3 days after my EDD. Nothing to do now until AF.

Outside temps were around 105, so we're working on getting a landscaper in to prepare the back yard for an above-ground pool. Our backyard had been weeds since we moved in, so it'll be nice to have it funtional.

QOTW: I work most of the week. I volunteered to do so. DH works on the 4th, and I still get off before he does, so there was no reason not to go for the overtime. I only really have to be home with my dog during fireworks. She is fine with most of the goings-on, but the 1/4 sticks of dynamite people ~love~ to light really send her trembling.

Oh yeah. QOTW, lol.
I have the pup booked for boarding, because I was hoping to do something fun for this 4th of July as a "last hurrah" before our EDD. :P I still haven't cancelled it yet, because I'm thinking we should do something anyway and the pup loves the ranch. But, nothing official or set in stone yet.

Hello August ladies! Thank you for the checkin @mara005!

I'm doing pretty well this week. AF is due today (boo!), and I keep testing negative, so I am pretty sure that I am out this cycle, so I will start on Clomid in a few days, which means shorter cycles (and better odds, I hope!). My husband keeps saying he wants twins--if only we would be that lucky!

QOTW: We are having some nice mild weather in the Northeast. I got my first tomato today! It fell right off into my hand My husband and I have been renovating our kitchen ourselves in a piecemeal fashion, and we just bought ourselves a slab of marble for one counter surface as an anniversary gift. It's going to be templated on the 7th, so we're going to spend the 4th (his day off) removing the existing counter and sink to install my beautiful new SINGLE BASIN stainless sink--I can't wait. It will be an adventure, I'm sure! I'm going to assume that Home Depot will e open on the holiday. We also have a dog @LundleBean, and I'm thinking we'll need to keep her calm during the fireworks. She was ok last year, but last night she was really on edge with people setting off bottle rockets in our neighborhood. I was trying to sweep the kitchen and she kept standing in my dirt pile!

Late to the check in but glad to see all y'all.

@mara005 - hope you enjoy all your July plans (and good luck with this 2ww)

@lundlebean - do you have any need/want of anything for your FET? I still have left over vivelle patches, endometrin, etc from the Nov cycle that now that we're CFNBC I want out of the house but have not gotten around to the Med donation. Let me know if you do.

@NoeliaV - even if it's just a day trip or weekend getaway - I think it's a great idea! Hope you get out of dodge.

@sfazar - sorry about the bfn's, hope Clomid is the trick for you.

As for me, had a hard night last night, as DH's uncle died and it brought up some child free fears, I've always hated the idea with DH 6 years older than me of the fact that I will be left all alone once he's gone. Horrible to be thinking of myself, when someone dies. But it does bring up the loss and now the other emotions that go with it. ::::sigh::::

As for non-sad news...my bff is in town this week! Yay! Hope to get in some good visiting time with her. And my mom retires on Thursday (her retirement gift from my dad is a trip up here to see me. She arrives the day after my edd. Bittersweet, since originally she was coming because of that. but will do my soul good to have some hugs from her.)

QOTW: I have the 4th off, but the funeral for said DH's uncle now on Saturday instead of the annual Rib O Rama contest his sister holds (cooking contest with lots of drinking - has now been postponed with date TBD). I work Sat & Sun in the morning but have the late afternoon and evening off. Hope to do something nice with DH on the 4th, but no plans since we had been planning on drinking heavily on Saturday.

@kaitb77 - I'm so sorry to hear about your DH's uncle. And I totally understand about thinking about you DH dying. My DH is 12 years older than me and I hate the thought of living without my love.

@sfazar - I hope you end up getting a BFP but it not, I'm glad to hear about the Clomid. Did you eat your first tomato?

@Lundlebean - I hope AF doesn't take to long so you can get the FET started.

@katib77 Sorry about YH's uncle. Sometimes losing people makes us more aware of our own mortality.

I'm glad your bff and your mom will be around soon. Such a different pace when you get to spend time with loved ones.

Also, thank you so much for the offer of meds. I think the only thing I need is PIO, and I will be picking up my first ever ovulation kit as this should hopefully be a natural FET. I do appreciate the offer.

@sfazar Whatever happens this cycle, I'm glad you have a plan for next cycle if needed. Changing things is one of the only ways to feel any control month to month, sometimes.

@NoeliaV I hope you do spend your time off doing something fun.

I just wanted to say thanks to all of your ladies for being so darn sweet! @LundleBean, yes, it does feel good to have a plan for going forward. My husband picked up the Clomid yesterday, and joked that this babymaking was going to cost us a fortune (the pills were only like $1.50!).

@katib77 I'm so sorry about your DH's uncle (hugs!). But how lovely that your best friend and mom are both visiting! My best friend is arriving toward the end of July (haven't seen her for 2 years!), and I am really looking forward to just sitting on our screen porch, sipping iced tea, and having some nice long conversations and good laughs.

@NoeliaV I totally understand keeping the doggie hotel booked--it's nice to have a break once in a while from our little charges My husband and I haven't traveled a lot recently ebecause of his work and money being tight, but we've had some really lovely day trips exploring our state.

@mara005 Hope you have a great 4th! I put my first tomato in my Greek meatballs. Last night I made a big platter of Greek appetizers using garden produce. It was so pretty--and so nice to be outside. My husband was celebrating his last night of working the night shifts. I'm very grateful to have him home with me in the evenings again.
