Hypothyroidism Question?

I found out today that my thyroid level is finally under control after a couple of months of adjusting Synthroid. Just wondering if anyone who has hypothyroidism got pregnant after getting it under control, and how long did it take? Also did anyone lose weight after getting it under control?

I have a hypothyroid and sadly haven't really shed pounds after I got it "under control." I know two people who have HypoThyroid that were able to conceive after they got it under control and started having their periods again. I don't know if you have talked to your doctor about it but once you get preggers they will have to up your meds a lot... like I think by 1/3 so keep that in mind.

Hi there and good luck! I have had a host of issues including hypothyroid, thus far no luck in concieving...but I do have two friends who were pregnant fairly quickly after getting things stabilized.

Hi! My periods seemed to regulate after getting on the right thyroid meds. Hope yours do too!

From what I have been told, once your (our) thyroid levels (T4) are under control we're good to go. Here's hopeing!

ps. I've been on thyroid meds for years and haven't dropped a pound.

I can't lose a pound either. Hoping it is the reason I'm not conceiving, but the doctor told me it was a very slight elevation so who knows?

I don't understand the link between weight and conception. If you have regular visits from AF does it really matter what we weight?

I don't either. I don't think my weight is preventing me from conceiving. I don't think my thyroid is either, as my periods are very regular. If I had to guess I thinks it's my DHs poor motility and morph that is causing more of an issue.

When your thyroid is out of wack it influences everything from blood pressure to hormone balances, which are very important to conception. Also, elevated TSH levels can cause developmental (specifically intelligence) problems.

I'm curious what your levels were initially and what they are now that they are considered under control? I have been on a thyroid researching kick...

My level initially was 2.5. Now my level is 1.8, they want it between 1 and 2 from what I understand.

The highest my TSH has been was 17. Yes, it should be between 1 and 2 for conception and pregnancy. That's why I'm on an almost unheared-of high dose of Levoxothrin at 300 mcg.

My highest TSH was 178. I don't know what I am even at right now but my last test was 32.... I have never missed my period.
