Baby Proofing Problem

Nico learned how to climb up the steps. I barricade them with random tall items but no matter what I do, big brother moves it out of the way and off we go. My steps are not conducive for a baby gate either. I can't even sit down anymore between this and Enzo knowing how to unlock all the doors and running outside completely naked. Any ideas for baby proofing?

I added a picture of Enzo when he was that age on the steps. They go around the corner and used to have a railing on it, but DH took it out and never replaced it. He was never as adventurous as Nico is, so it was never a problem then. I used to lay a baby gate flat and he wouldn't go up there.

Also can you get one of those door handle thingies? Is your interior door handle round? They have those covers that make it hard for toddlers to turn, for your older one?

We have a similar stairs situation. Basically I just spend a lot of time following T up the stairs

I'll be interested to see if you get any suggestions I could apply.

We have tricky stairs too and got a play yard and stretched it across the stairs. My older daughter is able to move it to get up the stairs. The big problem is getting her to close it behind her so LO isn't able to follow her.

@mandmh05 that is exactly what I use to block the stairs! I put the play yard in front, but it isn't wide enough. I stick the hamper next to it and keep it in place using the alphabet train. It works well for us until big brother decides to help!

The railing was a rot iron (Sp?) railing that was really shitty. If I put it back on, it still wouldn't help with the baby gate situation. The stairs that turn suck with gates.

@casey78 that retract a gate is pretty cool. I'm going to look into that for my porch too!

I think their needs to be some type of railing put up, that looks dangerous.

I can't imagine not being able to gate off my stairs because my LO is a stair climbing fool! Could you turn a chair upside down and lay it on the landing?

I think either a railing with a gate or maybe get one of the super yard gates. Keep it open and long to use it to block the stairs.

Exactly this. I would ask DH to but the railing back on.

Also, Enzo was so cute

You can get an L-shaped baby gate and attach it to the walls around the bottom stair I would think.

Get a really long gate to go from wall to wall? I have this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003VNKLIY
It's 192 inches wide when used as a gate and it has a walk through door on it and can be manipulated a lot of different ways.

Also, we do the same thing with our railing stairs. The boys sometimes pull down the whole play yard fence, but I've also usually stopped them before it gets that bad.

Thank you all so much! I hadn't even thought of the super yard! We have a railing that starts at the wall and goes up and never had a problem with it not covering those two steps. The set up just sucks for a gate. Right now I have just been staying in the room all the time and blocking it with the pack and play and other stuff. I am definitely going to look into the super yard!!! I'm posting in my fsot group as we speak!

We have her pack n play blocking the steps. But having a sibling who moves everything would be tough!
