Trying to Get Pregnant

Bad news when TTGP

So before we started TTGP I was sick with Pericarditis (inflammation that attacks the sack around the heart); I got the all clear from the doc. and my husband and I started TTGP. Now 3 days after positive OPK and sex the 3 days before and day after I have Pericarditis again. I am really worried that on the off chance we did conceive the medications are going to hurt my baby.  Just really depressed, and disappointing,

  • yeah talked to the doctor this morning the problem is I have to take the medication because otherwise fluid builds up around my heart last time that's what happened and I spent 3 days in the hospital getting the fluid out so I did not have congestive heart failure. I am just really bummed. My husband and I are so ready to start a family! And things just keep getting in the way! Thanks for the words of encouragement it means a lot

  • I'm sorry, that sucks. I recommend you find a really good pharmacist to speak with. Since they specialize in medication they are sometimes even more knowledgable than doctors when it comes to side effects of drugs. Maybe they can put your mind at ease or at least give you a realistic perspective on taking this medication and TTC.

  • I'm sorry you are going through this. I would also recommend talking with your dr and pharmacist so that you know what risks might be if you have to take the medicine.

  • What's done is done for this cycle, obviously you need to get better so taking the meds should be a priority over the remote possibility you might yet conceive. Going forward, though, you need to speak to your doctor and find out whether TTC is safe while on these meds or not. If the meds can be harmful to a pregnancy, then you need to either hold off on TTC until you get your condition fully under control or try to explore other med options to use while TTC.

This. I can imagine it would be very frustrating. I would speak to your doctor about your TTC plans going forward. Hopefully there are medications you can take that are safe for pregnancy. Good luck!
