My biggest parenting fail to date:
Yesterday I locked everything, my purse, cell, spare keys (in the diaper bag), and CHILD! in the car. Thankfully the repair guy DH uses for his business lives about 5 miles away, and he also unlocks vehicles. Thankfully my neighbor was mowing his lawn while listening to a podcast, so I just had to go about 50 yards for a phone. Thankfully it was only 70 degrees out, my vehicle was under a tree, and DS had water and raisins, but really! Come on, everything locked in the car! When I called the mechanic and told him, he was like "Oh Jeez! I'll be right over!" He was there in 7 minutes, and DS just thought I was playing a fun game of peak-a-boo with the car window. I felt terrible. If it was a 100 degree day with sun, you better believe I'd be breaking a window.

Re: Parenting Fail
IVF FET - BFP, due April 2017
Awwwwww, so awful! Glad it went well.
I locked DD and I out of the house once with nothing. It was dinner time and I literally had her and the stroller. Dh was working out of town and so I ended up going to a neighbors house with older kids and she (like a saint) dug in her girls' rooms and found an old swim diaper and some toys for DD. She fed us and we had to wait a few hours for DH to get home to us but it could have been much worse. Parenting is HARD!
My sister and her husband had their DD get locked in the car. He left the keys in the ignition (car turned off) and when they shut their doors the car locked itself. It was close to winter when this happened. They called some company to break into their car. A guy showed up 10 minutes later (in a personal car) broke in and said they don't charge when a child is in the car. An hour later the company showed up and when we said someone already came they were confused and said no one else was dispatched to come out. Apparently someone off duty and in the area heard the call over his radio and came out on his own. My sister got rid of that car the next week!
Glad everything worked out for you and you didn't have to break windows!
