Short version: Wren was born June 28 at 8:35am weighing 8lb9oz and measuring 21in long. Long version: my due date was 6/26 and on 6/24, I had my membranes stripped at my last prenatal appt. On 6/25 the contractions started but they were very inconsistent and went away every night when I went to bed. On 6/27, I thought the contractions had completely stopped but around 8pm they picked up and were finally timeable. From 8-10pm I timed them around 7 minutes apart and decided that because of how intense they felt and the fact that the hospital was 40 minutes away that we should leave. We got in the car at 10:15 and a little less than half way there I see a sea of red brake lights. I wanted to cry. For over 2 hours we were stuck in traffic and I had to labor in the car. It was horrible. We finally got to the hospital and got up to L&D and put in a triage room around 1:15am. I was checked and much to my dismay I was only 3cm. The nurse sent me walking the halls, but I almost passed out and she had me lay back down. She checked me again and I was still a 3. She told me she would make me a 4... And she did. Ouch. So I was admitted and sent to my room. I got the epidural which helped me relax. By 6:30am I was dilated to a 9 and the midwife wanted to give me an hour to see if my water would break on it's own. By 8:15, the epidural had worn off, my water hadn't broken, and I was in horrible pain. I rolled onto my side and 10 minutes later I hear a pop and feel a gush. It was crazy. As soon as my water broke, she was crowning. The nurse kept telling me not to push while everyone got ready and I kept telling her I wasn't pushing! After 4 pushes, Wren made her way into the world screaming. We're so in love. Big sister is having a bit of a tough time adjusting, but she loves to look at her. Pictures!
