Ounces Per Day

How many ounces per day should a 4 month old be eating? My LO currently eats about 25 ounces per day (he eats 5 to 5.5 ounces every 3 hours). When do babies typically start spacing out their feedings more (every 3.5 to 4 hours instead of every 3 hours)?

My LO used to sleep through the night without waking up. For about a week now, he has been waking up between 2:00am and 4:00am fussing. We have never done the dreamfeed with him and I've read that you shouldn't start doing it after 4 months if you haven't already been doing it. What are the chances that he is going through a growth spurt and is waking up hungry? If I do start feeding him during the night, will he get used to this and not go back to sleeping through the night without having to feed like he used to? I just want to be sure he isn't going hungry.

    Your LO could be going through the 4 month wakeful period. As for ounces my LO is about 14 weeks and eats 24oz from 7 am to 8pm... usually broken into 4oz feedings sometimes 2oz. If your LO is crying in the middle of the night for food you should feed him.

    I have heard it's approx 2.5 oz per pound. My DS was eating [4-5] 7.5 oz bottles (30-37.5 oz) every 3ish hours, he's now having [4] 8 oz bottles every 4ish hours. He was 5 months last week and probably weights around 16 pounds.

    This may be a stupid question but how do you know when your baby is ready to eat more at one feeding and go longer in between feelings?

    I read somewhere that 4 months old should be eating from 24-30oz per day.
    My LO still eats every 2.5-3 hours a 4oz bottle. I do MOTN twice because LO is hungry and cries to eat. I agree with @JenW1029‌ if you LO is hungry, feed him.

    Not stupid, I wanted to know that at some point too. My opinion is try giving a ounce more in each feeding and see how your LO does, if he/she seems hungry after a short time then try a lil more than the last.

    How do I know if he is truly hungry when he wakes up during the night? He usually goes back to sleep if we give him his paci. Does this indicate he isn't waking due to hunger?

    My DD is 3.5 months and has 30oz a day. She eats 6oz every 3 hours (or so) during the day. Usually 645AM-930AM-1230PM-4PM-715PM.   Her last bottle is 715PM and she will sleep from 745PM til 630. I actually have to wake her up for daycare.  She is on formula. My first daughter was BF til 6 months and that was a whole different ballgame.

    Same thing for us! I have twins, the girl eats 6oz every 3 hours, the boy eats between 7 and 8 oz (pig!). They sleep 8pm-6am most nights, so, no more middle of the night bottle for them!  Both are on formula.

    My DD eats about 20 oz a day. Between 6 am and 9 pm (sometimes she wakes earlier). She is also fed on demand and likes a big bottle (4 oz) when she wakes up in the morning and when she wakes up from her long nap between 4pm and 5pm, otherwise she eats in 2 oz increments, she is a big time snacker.
