Breastmilk storage

I've heard over and over again to not add freshly pumped breastmilk to milk that's been cooled in the fridge. Does anyone know why?

I know that you can't add warm milk to frozen bc it can thaw the frozen milk- is it the same idea?

It just seems like a waste of bottles to have all of those tiny amounts of milk in the fridge.

It's fine to mix them once the fresh milk has chilled (I think the issue is not warming the stored milk).

Yes, same reason. The newly pumped milk would warm up the cooled milk, and increases the chance of bacteria growing.
