Car Seat Conundrum: Cybex Aton 2 v. Aton Q

Hi Moms,

I'm basically set on either the Aton 2 or the Aton Q but was hoping other moms could weigh in on their preference.  Overall I lean towards the Q but I have an extremely compact SUV and a very tall husband so I'm thinking the extra inch of space on the 2 would come in handy.  Also, I'm small and not especially strong and the Q weighs a few lbs more.

Does anybody have an opinion as to whether the Q has enough improvements it's worth the space and weight upgrade over the 2?

Thanks!

They are both drool worthy ;) if you are already thinking space may be an issue, go with the Aton 2. There is nothing not to like about it and its a small as you can get!

Thanks kmc84.  My main concern is that some people felt there wasn't enough of a sun visor on the Cybex 2 (if I'm still remembering correctly after hours pouring over car seat data in my head).  I know the crash protection on the Q is supposed to be marginally better, but the 2 is so great that it doesn't really factor into my decision.

Honestly, the features are great on both seats, and since we don't actually know how each seat performed in NHTSA testing, I really wouldn't worry about which one *might* be better. The sun canopy is really skimpy (especially for the price, I mean come on!) however, for inside the car, the window cling tint works great for blocking sun, and for outside the car, a thin receiving blanket (I love the Aiden and Anise for this) draped over the top fixes that problem.

  • We had the Aton (there was no 2 or Q, yet), and the sunshade was fine. I didn't think it was too skimpy. The 2 has the same shade. I wish they made a convertible!
