active in womb= active child?

My doctor always comments on how active my baby is- and made a joke at my a/s that she's probably going to be a wild child. Have any STMs experienced any truth in this? Does a very active baby in the womb typically end up with an 'on-the-go' type of personality, and a less active baby ends up being calmer?

Once I figured out what was baby moving and what was gas, I've been pondering this too! I feel like I don't go more than two hours when I'm awake without feeling LO move... it could very well be every hour.

ETA: I could very well go gray within a year or two if LO comes out and is as active as he/she is now!
  • Hmm. It's partially true for me. My son was a crazy mover. He was a pretty chill and "easy" baby, but he's definitely super active and excited now (most 4 year old are though :P ).

  • My son was super active in the womb and he is nonstop now. The only time he isn't running around the house or outside running chasing the dog is when he is sleeping or the 5 min he sits for meal time haha.

  • Yes, so true for my twin girls! Thy are 20 months now and have been pretty true to how they were in utero their whole lives. Baby A was super chill in utero and still is today. Baby B was my mover in utero- we joke that the reason she was nearly a pound lighter than her sister is because she never stopped moving in there. She's the exact same now. She was really calm as a newborn but by 3-4 months she was super active!

  • As I said above @carcrashheart‌ my son was and still is super chill. More of a looker then a doer.

    He's 16 now.

I wouldn't say DS was super-active in the womb - average I guess.  As a toddler he never stops but I agree with pp, toddlers are always on the go, always all over the place and into everything.  Young children are constantly developing the first few years, so when they can crawl, walk, etc. that's what they want to do - explore.  Maybe it holds more true for older kids, once the kids are in school some are definitely more active than others.

DS was very inactive in the womb.  He didn't move much at all - at least that I could feel.  Already I feel this little boy a lot more than I did DS.  But DS is VERY active, very physical.  I think there's no correlation.  I agree with pp, most kids turn out to be very active - so be prepared!

  • This has been true so far for me! our first LO was super busy in my belly and at 4yrs old still is super busy, sooo much energy. Our second LO was a lot more relaxed and at almost 2yrs old is still a lot more relaxed than our first (thankfully:). Too early to tell for #3 though as we're just 18 weeks along...
  • I'm glad someone posted about this, I've been wondering myself lately. This is my first so I have no way of knowing what my little girl will be like when she is growing up, but she kicks me on and off all day! I was starting to wonder if I was abnormal to have such a crazy active baby, people say they kick less during the day and when you're on the move but none of that is true for me :)

  • She kicks all night long ...and sleeps during the day ...hope this isn't continued after birth lol..
  • I only have one experience but I felt ds move for the 1st time at 13 weeks. He was all over the place my entire pregnancy. He started walking at 9.5 months and he is into everything. Definitely could be true.
