Pregnant after a Loss

Pregnant after recurrent miscarriage

I have had two consecutive miscarriages and I was wondering if anyone has had success after 2 or more miscarriages and if you used medication such as progesterone or if you didn't use anything at all. Thanks!

Re: Pregnant after recurrent miscarriage

  • I had 2 consecutive losses and just had my rainbow baby in April so it can happen :) I did take progesterone and a host of other things, but it was because my RPL testing showed hormone level issues and some additional problems. Taking progesterone doesn't necessarily guarantee a perfect pregnancy and is usually only prescribed when needed. Wishing you success soon!

I'm not a complete success yet but I am currently 21 weeks pregnant after 5 losses and no other living kids. I took progesterone after ovulation (conceived this little man via Clomid with a trigger shot so did the progesterone starting a few days after trigger) and continued on it until 12 weeks. I also take baby aspirin until 37 weeks, vitamin d and a prenatal with extra folate, b complex and DHA. I did take co enzyme q 10 for a few months leading up to trying again this time too but stopped after my positive. There is a study out linking it to helping with egg quality. Obviously ask your doctor what they recommend. We sought the help of an RE after two losses which was the best thing we did.

Also wishing you success soon! Don't give up. Miracles can happen when you least expect it :)
  • I am now 13 weeks pregnant after two back to back losses. So far so good. I did take progesterone since it could help but wasn't going to hurt.
  • I have one healthy toddler and then I had two miscarriages. I am currently 18 weeks pregnant and I take an aspirin a day. For the first 14 weeks I took progesterone twice a day. This pregnancy, to my knowledge, is progressing perfectly.

I just wanted to add, I was completely devasted after my second loss. I was terrified I would never be able I have another child. Well, here I am, 18 weeks and doing great. So there is certainly hope! Good luck!
  • Thank you all for your encouraging stories! I am so happy for you and your babies!! : ) I did have low progesterone at 9.3 from what I've read, but the Drs said it was fine. Im going to look for a dr that will prescribe it before I get pregnant again, I think that definitely has a lot to do with it! Thanks again!
  • My losses were not consecutive, but we had a loss at 19 weeks, our rainbow and then a loss at 10 weeks. I am almost 12 weeks with this pregnancy. I was on progesterone with all of my pregnancies, but that was not because of my losses, but instead because of my low progesterone levels.

I would definitely discuss this and other testing/issues with your doctor. Wishing you lots of success.

  • Hi :)
I had 2 losses and I am now on my 3rd pregnancy which is going well thanks to having a cerclage placed in my cervix at 13 weeks preg. I am now 36 weeks and almost there ! Almoooost! I was diagnosed with IC and I also had to take progesterone suppositories !!
  • I'm sorry for your losses.

I had two consecutive losses before DD was born. I'm now almost 13w with my fourth pregnancy and things have been going well so far. With DD and this LO I was on progesterone and am still on extra folic acid. Testing showed I have an MTHFR mutation that cause me to be deficient in both of those. So for me, the supplements have made all the difference.

I've had two now since DD, and I'm pg with again, hoping this baby sticks! I do 50 mg of progesterone twice a day (suppository), as well as a baby aspirin and 1600 mg of folic acid on top of a regular prenatal.
