Do you have a birthing playlist? What's on it?

Re: Do you have a birthing playlist? What's on it?

  • I have 115 songs on mine. It's stuff I like to listen to when I'm relaxing around the house. Lots of The Head and The Heart, Mumford and Sons, Bon Iver, The Lumineers, Iron & Wine, Fleet Foxes. A few "baby specific " songs on my list are "Lullaby" and "Godspeed(Sweet Dreams)" by Dixie Chicks, "Father and Daughter" by Paul Simon, "Daughter" by Loudon Wainwright III.

  • I had one with ds, but was not prepared with my music for baby #2. I had an assortment, lots of songs with baby references, like Britney's, 'Baby One More Time', 'Sweet Child of Mine' Sheryl Crow version, and the Supremes 'Baby Love'. "Oh Very Young" by Cat Stevens played as ds was born, it was poignant. I did happen to focus on Journey singing, Don't Stop Believing, in the car ride to the hospital as baby girl pushed herself down and it gave me hope I would make it to the hospital and not deliver in the car.
  • Mine's currently all HypnoBirthing scripts with some soothing background music.  I'm thinking of making another playlist of just music, but not sure what I'd pick yet.  A lot of my normal music wouldn't lend themselves well to birthing.

I could put "In My Arms" by Plumb on my playlist but then I think I'd end up a soggy, crying mess because of all the feels.

  • Yes, I do.  I have a labor playlist and a lullaby playlist.  On my labor day playlist are songs to get me pumped up, good dance songs, like some Black Eyed Peas, some Prince, other random stuff, and some mellower stuff for when I need a relaxing environment.  :)  The lullaby playlist is not necessarily kid music but just stuff that is nice and soothing that I also like, such as some Jack Johnson and stuff like that.

  • Nope, I didn't find music helpful in labor when I tried it before.

My hospital has a "relaxation station" on the TV if you want soothing background music, so I figure we can use that or Pandora if I want some music this time.

  • Gregory Alan Isakov and Peter Bradley Adams are really good mellowed out musicians - I put them in my "mellowed out" birthing playlist

  • I love my iTunes Radio station, it's a 3 of a kind one. Almost every song that's played on there is fantastic. Even Hayden has a few favorites ;) so if I have any music played during it'll be from that station!

Nope. Music didn't help much last time, especially since the bulk of my labor was in the middle of the night. I just wanted to sleep. If we need it, and I doubt we will, I'll just pull up pandora. It's really hard to relax with music when nurses are coming in and out and checking in you.

  • I just discovered that if you are an Amazon Prime member, there are Prime Playlists in the music section that are pretty sweet. I plan on using some of these! '90s Pop Workout, '80s Rock Anthems, Relaxing Acoustic Pop, etc. Seems to be a playlist for every mood and there are like 20 songs or so on each.

  • I made one but never ended up even turning it on. I found I just ended up zoning out and concentrating. Husband tried to put on music and I told him to turn it off lol. I really bought I would enjoy the playlist though
