Finally got my Thyroid level under control. Just wondering if anyone got pregnant after getting it under control? How long did it take? Also, anyone lose weight?

I became hypothyroid after my fourth pregnancy and I believe I got pregnant within a few months of starting meds. That pregnancy was also in part from an IUI. My sixthy pregnancy, however, was unassisted and also while I was on meds for hypo.
I've had my doses changed quite a few times over the years because it can end up making me hyperthyroid so my dose keeps getting reduced. Most recently was this past fall and I needed the dose reduced because I had lost about 30 pounds (not from the thyroid meds though, just traditional dieting.) I'm not real sure how long it takes for the meds to work, I've always read it can take a few months, I typically would get re-tested six months after switching doses.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
I've been hypothyroid since my 20s. I got pregnant via IVF both times. The key is to stay monitored throughout the process, especially during the early weeks of pregnancy. My levels shot up quickly, meaning I required more medicine. I had two uneventful pregnancies, but I think it's key to have your levels monitored regularly, because the baby will deplete you.
Another thing I learned the first time, is to make sure you discuss reducing your dosage toward the end of your pregnancy, as the half-life of the meds is a bit long (I think it's 2-4 weeks, but I've since forgotten). You'll want to start weaning off your higher dose the closer you get to your due date, because once the baby is out, you won't need all those extra meds. Definitely discuss this with your doctor. I learned the hard way when I didn't and stayed on my higher dose for at least a month after delivery and my levels were off the charts low, and it took a while to get me back where I needed to be.
My friend had this and actually didn't get it under control until after she found out she was pregnant. But even though she started medications late she had zero complications. Now my sister inlaw also had this issue and had a miscarriage at around 6 weeks. Then found out it was due to this. She started taking meds and was pregnant within 6 months (got knocked up without having to see a fertility specialist or anything) and had a healthy baby girl.

I have hypothyroidism - in my IF workup we found out my TSH was over 20. I started on meds but it still took about 6 months to get pg, with clomid and IUI. DH also had low morph and I had one blocked tube.
However, I then had a surprise pg with DD#1 when DS was 6 months old. I also got pg unassisted but had a m/c and then again got pg with DD#2 without help.
I have no idea what was causing my IF initially, but we were lucky enough to get pg and have 2 more kids unassisted.
Good luck!
ETA: I didn't lose weight - but weight gain wasn't one of my symptoms. I was having hair loss and was so tired.
Re: Hypothyroidism Question?
Yes and yes.
