Swim Diapers

Does anyone who currently uses disposable diapers use reusable swim diapers? Is there a benefit? We're at the lake almost every weekend, and I like to break out the kiddie pool after work when it's hot. Basically, we're water babies over here :) I'm just wondering if I should look into reusable swim diapers instead of using the disposable ones.

We CD and use the iPlay cloth swim diaper..I recommend getting a size up if you go with it as they seem to run small. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it fit under her swimsuit too! Not too much bulk

This except we use disposable diapers. This is my exact review of the iPlay swim diaper.

They make 2 types. One is just a slip on and one has snaps up one side. I recommend looking for the one with snaps as it makes it easier to remove when wet.

  • We use disposables but use the iplay reusable swim diaper.. We really like it but agree with sizing up! And @tyrannosaurusbeck‌ is right, it doesn't add too much bulk under the suit!
  • We have two Charlie Banana reusable swim diapers and really like them :) they're on sale right now at Target I believe...
  • CD: we use a one-sized alva pocket diaper with no insert.

@ElleStaxx - we use the Huggies and haven't had any issues, I'm just looking at it cost-wise, as we've already gone through a package of diapers and it's only July 1...

  • We CD, so I use a bum genius pocket with the small insert so I don't get peed on walking to the pool.

  • We use an iplay bc reusable diapers are so expensive and we swim all the time. I have 3 iplays and I love em. Swim dipes aren't going to hold pee so they're gonna leak. The just contain poop. That's it.

  • We were gifted a pair of Huggies Little Swimmers, but after reading this... I think I might just go to Target and get the iplay swim diaper.

  • We use disposable diapers normally. But, I just bought and used for the first time a reusable swim diaper. I can't remember the brand. It is from a local crunchy store. It is just less gross to me than the wet disposable swim diapers. No other reason really.

  • Ok so wait. The I Play comes in small-xlarge, how do you size it?! Hold it up to the baby and guess?

  • We mainly use a iplay reusable diaper, but I also bought some of the Huggies swimmers for use in our little pool at home. Our swim place requires a reusable diaper. Completely agree that they run small and also suggest the snap up sides. Haven't had any poop in there yet, but have heard that the pull ons are a mess to get off if poopy.

Clara wears cloth diapers.  We use an Alva pocket diaper (cheap!) without an insert as a swim diaper.  We keep this one separate from the others so other diapers don't get exposed to chlorine.  Also, we rinse it after we get home to get the chlorine out.  I don't worry about rinsing out salt water.

  • We CD most of the time and use a Bummis reusable swim diaper. She is still using the same size small one that she started using at about 3 months. But she is a skinny mini and just hit 16lbs this week.

  • We cloth diaper and sometimes use disposables, for swimming we have a bummis reusable diaper. DD fits the medium at 18lbs and was not bulky under her swimsuit.
