Changing Pad Too Small

I have a changing table that we received as a gift and the space for the changing pad is rather large. The changing pad I bought is smaller than the space. Are there any issues with the pad being too small? My husband thinks it is fine and I am worried the baby will get her foot stuck or something. There is about an inch gap on both longways sides. Do we need to try and find a new changing pad or are we ok with the one we have?
Thoughts? Thanks!

  • It's completely fine. You'll be there with her. Mine is like this as well. We had no issues.

  • Ditto PP. The changing pad will either not be attached to the table at all or will be attached by a canvas-y ribbon thing that comes with it. Your baby's not going to get stuck.

Thanks everyone. First time mom-to-be just wanting to make sure :)
  • You could roll up a towel or receiving blanket amd squeeze it into the gap.
  • It'll be fine, because of course you don't leave the baby by itself on the table!

We bought a pre-owed changing table that still had the pad with it, and that fits properly. But the pads you buy by themselves wouldn't fit it. Which is weird, because I've noticed that w/most changing tables.
