We were scheduled for a csection (baby A breech) on the 25th (36 weeks) because the twins were IUGR and it was determined they'd grow better out than in. Well they had there own plans and on the 22nd I started having contractions, not painful but consistent enough to call our doctor. They had me go to the hospital to have the twins monitored for a couple of hours. When we got there the nurse practitioner decided to check and see if I was dilated, I was at 6cm and she could feel baby boys sac bulging. They immediately decided it was time to have them and not waste any time. Before I knew it I was being wheeled into the OR and within minutes had my spinal and our babies were here. Baby boy had to have some breathing support and was put on Cpap for the first 24 hours.
They quickly made their way out of the Level 3 NICU and are now in the graduate Level 2 NICU as growers and feeders. They spent the last 48 hours on phototherapy but bilirubin levels are already down. Hopeful they will start taking full feelings from the bottle soon so they can come home. Until then we are spending as much time at the hospital with them. I can't believe they are here and how perfect they are.
Baby boy was 4lb8oz and baby girl was 4lb2oz.
My recovery is going great, still in a good amount of pain but it's so true that getting up and walking makes all the difference in the world. Thanks for all the advice during my pregnancy, I'm sure I will have many more questions once we get these two home.
