Because I'm on Glyburide, I have to be induced before 40 weeks. I go in tomorrow evening at 8PM! With DS, I was unhappy about being induced but this time around it makes it a little easier because we can plan out his childcare. After last night's miserable sleep though, I am definitely even more ready to get this show on the road.
Vent: I realized after testing this morning that I only have one strip left. Hopefully the nurse checks her messages soon or I won't be able to test any more. It sucks that I'll have to pay $25 for 100 more strips when I really only need like 9 more. Oh well...having some for after baby is okay if I ever want to randomly test.
Doing OK...doing the testing less thing, only after unknown meals or if I have to report to a doctor. Things are going OK. I wasn't doing a lot of activity from joint issues, but got into doing things recently, and it really helped keep the numbers low even when I cheated and had some pancakes this weekend. Unfortunately, it's also not the time to push hard, and I was crazy contracting yesterday after a lot of heavy cleaning/ gardening. silly nesting! I need the LO to stay put a little longer!
Vent: I'm tired of the diet, etc obviously. I'm so fed up I don't even want to shop for anything besides stevia root beer, cold cuts and cheese, since they have no carbs, and having the same few foods that I know yeild low numbers. If I never see the inside of a grocery store again, I'd be happy!
Haha...@TurtleMonsters, I did a lot of cleaning this weekend with the thought that if it moved things along, that was fine by me. All it did was make sleeping at night worse. But it did need to happen...
It's going pretty well! I'm paranoid about my monitor working correctly because it seems like my sugar levels have been getting better/lower towards the end of this pregnancy when I was afraid about them getting worse. I've gotten pretty lax with what I'm eating because of this and I think it's showing in my weight gain. Gotta reel it in for just a few more weeks!
My doctor said that even though my GD has been totally diet controlled, I will probably not be able to go past my due date and she could even make an argument for induction at 39 weeks if my body is ready. I'm really hoping baby waits a bit longer (I'm not ready!!) but then comes on his/her own before induction is necessary. My ultrasound yesterday estimated it at 7lbs, 13oz so I'm interested to see how big it ends up!
Congratulations @mrscurlygurl ! Hoping all goes well for you, baby and all the sugar! : ]
If I could get away with eating double bacon cheeseburgers for all lunches and dinners, I would. What's stopping me? DHs efforts to feed me healthy food. But Sunday night when I picked up sonic, I ate some of his delicious delicious French fries and took pictures of the dessert menu as a checklist for later.
Until then, I, too, am tired of eating. These graham crackers taste like cardboard. And while Beanitos are a great medium for transferring guacamole (thanks for whoever recommended them!) they are terrible by themselves.
Vents/celebrations from the previous week? Eating the same foods and one time numbers are good and the next they spike. Had a few high numbers this past week which of course is frustrating
Questions? Ok weird question and I know it's near the end.... But my dietician was horrible and only saw me once after giving the diet...As long as your numbers are low a majority of the time you should be good right? I've controlled my sugars strictly by my numbers but not sure if the foods were right do do they go by foods or numbers?
Suggestions? Nadda....almost there and ready for this to be over....I have Dreyers Gelato waiting in the freezer for me!
I'm doing pretty well. My biggest challenge now is that I get so full so fast, that I'm eating teeny tiny meals--and then I have to wait 2 hours to test before I have a snack. And I'm starving after about an hour. I can't wait for this to be over, and to just not have to think about food anymore!
Can't wait to start seeing your squishes and hearing about your first meals-hang in there, ladies!!
I am doing okay, i found some protein bars that work well for snack time that is making life much better.
Maternity leave is making my eating schedule all wonky though. Getting up at 5am everyday made getting in all the meals + snacks on a decent timetable super easy.
I did get woken up last night by low blood sugar, tested and was at 43! First time that has ever happened in the middle of the night.
I am so over bacon and toast for breakfast. I can't even stand the thought of it anymore. I never thought i would get sick of bacon. Haha.
I am so very done being pregnant and dealing with this damn diet. SO DONE!! I cannot wait for this to be over, the closer we get the more anxious i am. I have an appointment on Thursday and need to remember to ask my doc what the plan is for delivery.
Getting towards the end ladies! @TurtleMonsters I totally feel your pain about the grocery store! I actually almost ended up in tears the last time I went because I'm so tired of eating the same damn things all the time and all I want is a huge slice of chocolate cake with ice cream on the side!!! DH had to go the next two times...
Congratulations @mrscurlygurl ! Hoping all goes well for you, baby and all the sugar! : ]

I'm not sure I understand your question? Are you asking if it matters what foods you eat as long as your numbers are controlled? I would think that if you are having controlled numbers, you are likely getting the proper balance of carbs to protein. As far as I know, there is not a mandated GD diet, just food lists that tend to keep things controlled for people.
Things have been going fairly well for me, my numbers have stayed within the good range all week and I have not had any other issues. Today my doctor reminded me that I only have a week and a half of sticking my finger 4 times a day and I got soooooo excited! I'm ready to be done with the testing for a while.
@jennp1979 - I saw my dietician twice - once in the very beginning and then once as a follow up. At the follow up she said my numbers were all fine and there was no reason to continue meeting. She did have me do 2 or 3 days of a food diary but I think it was more to see what foods I was able to handle, not necessarily to check if it was a "balanced diet". So basically, I think you're fine not seeing the dietician as long as your numbers are good. Does your dr check them out at least when you see him/her?
@zerozeroone did you ask anyone about the lower numbers? I mentioned it to my doctor and she just kind of shrugged and said it was a good thing and didn't seem worried. Sounds good to me except that the baby keeps getting bigger and I reaaally hope it isn't from what I'm eating!
As someone 2.5 weeks out of GD land, may I recommend NOT going to the grocery store alone at first. Holy hell! I came home with almost every snack I have craved over the last 27 weeks and could not have. Except Oreos. I forgot the damn Oreos!
@Pup4gdb of course I'll take my husband. How can I expect to carry ALL THE CARBS by myself?
Weird: my mouth regularly has an after-taste of artificial sweetener. Even if the last thing I ate didn't have any. I should probably google that and see what it means.
Alright ladies...now that my squish is here...I would just like to say that these are delicious:
And I have also enjoyed one of these...Steak and Shake Double Chocolate Fudge Shake
They have not brought up testing my blood sugar, and I haven't bothered to ask if they will. Bring me all.the.sugar.
Arya's blood sugar was low yesterday at 29 (needs to be over 40). The nurse wanted me to supplement with formula (I had already nursed her for a little bit). Even though I hated doing it, I knew her level needed to come up. She drank almost an ounce, which is what the nurse suggested, but I think it was way too much in the end because she spit up several times throughout the day. Two more checks over the day though gave levels of 44 and 53. She wouldn't nurse anymore yesterday, but did this morning around 3:30am. Hopefully no more formula and good levels until we get to go home!
I had my baby this morning! They'll check Davids numbers in a little bit. Ive already had milk AND juice AND fruit AND PANCAKES WITH SYRUP! And everyone is doing well

Raisins are gross. So gross that even raisinets doesn't show them on their own packaging.
There are definitely raisins on the package, they are falling into the chocolate. They just don't show up well since they are brown raisins against brown chocolate ;-)
Lucky ladies eating what you want! I was just wondering if I'll have to test at all after the baby is born - can you guys with outside babies say what your experience with that is? I'm close to the end of my test strips and hoping I can avoid paying for more :P
Here's another question for you ladies! How many of your doctors are talking about induction because of GD (or if your baby is here, how many if you were induced/planned on being induced?)
Last appointment my dr said she probably wouldn't want me to go past 40wks even though my GD has been diet controlled with no problems. I'll ask her about this at my next appointment but just wondering if that is normal and if it is due to a size issue or GD issue (e.g., placenta breakdown).
I'll be 39 weeks on Thursday - think it might be time to try some old wives tales if she is still talking induction!

I actually talked to my doc about this last week. In their office they have a standard practice to do a u/s at 38 weeks to determine size and position, they will induce before your EDD if you fail a NST or the baby is measuring extremely large.
My doc kept saying they would do an u/s at 38 weeks to determine delivery options, which made it sound like they did an induction at 38 weeks. They won't really let me go past my due date but i'm thankfully that she will get almost 2 more weeks to cook (or come to come on her own) then i originally thought unless i have a giant baby or things start to deteriorate.
My doc would prefer that i go into labor on my own before that, so i'm trying all the natural techniques (sex, birth ball, walking, EPO).
Sounds similar to what I was told. I have a feeling that at my 39 week appointment on Thursday she is going to want to schedule induction but if I can get her to wait until my due date that gives me a week to try all of the things! @helloblueeyes, if you don't mind me asking - are you taking EPO orally or the, uh, other method? I've been thinking about picking some up but wasn't sure if you're supposed to have been taking it for a while or not.
My GD is diet controlled, they did a growth ultrasound last week and he measured about 7 lbs, so they told me at this point there is no concern over size. I had my 39 week appointment today and was told that since I was able to control by diet, they will proceed as if I didn't have GD, so no talk of induction. I also talked to my MFM doctor who told me that once that placenta is gone I do not need to test/follow the diet and can proceed as normal. I'm also almost out of strips, but with "a week" left, not sure if I should refill or if I will jinx myself and end up going way past my due date ;-)
I am taking it both ways. I started at about 37 weeks and 4 days, i don't think your supposed to take it much earlier then 37/38 weeks. I take 1000mg orally and 50mg vaginally, you can take more then that though. I am actually considering upping the dosage at 39 weeks to double what i'm taking, depends on what my cervical check is like on Thursday.
No idea if it's working or not but i figure it can't hurt.
Love how we all ended up at the end of our test strips! I just counted and can last until EOD Monday sooo hopefully baby comes before then! Maybe my dr will tell me I can go ahead and stop testing after Monday =P
I guess mention of induction is because my ultrasound on the 30th estimated baby at 7lbs 13oz so on the bigger end. I wish there wasn't so much faith put in to those estimates, though! If this baby comes out under 8lbs I will be relieved first but then annoyed at all of the talk about a big baby!
With diet control, my doctor said she wouldnt let me go a week past my due date. Then at my appt that was five days out we scheduled an induction for due date +2days.
And then i went into labor that night
Upon check in, they took blood for labwork, which included glucose levels. Day after birth they took more blood, including another glucose check. Both results were as expected, and the second was 'normal' confirming no residual effects from GD.
