Joining the bed rest crew/ L&D visit and update in OP

I just got back from a very long two week "vacation" back to South Carolina to see my family which ended up being more stressful than fun. I had been feeling kind of funny all week but knew I had my 31 week appointment today so I figured I would just tell them about it then.

I show up and my BP is 150/88. They had me lay on my side and took it again and it was pretty much the same so they hooked me up to do a NST. Baby boy wasn't moving around as much as they wanted him to so they filled me full of apple juice which only made me had to pee. This resulted in me having my BP taken again which thankfully had gone down to 130/88 (still a little high but they felt better about it) and decided to give me an ultrasound. My cervix and the placenta look good and there is still plenty of amniotic fluid. It was nice to see LO. He is measuring a week ahead and weighing in at 4 pounds. The best news is that there is no protein spilling into my urine yet.

They have put me on modified bed rest with plenty of fluids. I have to go back to check my bp again tomorrow and then twice a week from this point forward. I am praying this is a fluke and not the beginning of pre-e. I need him to bake for another 9 weeks! In the meantime, expect lots of activity from me as I lay here on the couch.

Well ladies....

I just left L&D. I went in for a BP check today was it was 176/105 so they sent me straight to the hospital. There is still no protein in my urine. They said some of my labs were a little off so it could just be "brewing". Let's hope not. In the mean time, I am on strict bed rest. They put me on Labetalol twice a day. I also have to take my BP at home three times a day. They gave me my first round of steroid shots for his lungs tonight and I have to go back and get the second tomorrow. That makes me feel better in case we do have to deliver early.

We will continue going to the doctor twice a week until further notice. Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers!

I had gestational hypertension with DS1, starting around 35 weeks. I was never put on bedrest per say (my midwives were pretty lax since I was close to being full term and I had no other indications of preterm labor) but just had plenty of rest and fluids. He was born at 41 weeks. Good luck!

Hope all is ok! The good news is you are already at 31 weeks - your little one will very likely be ok, even if you do develop pre-e! I had pre-e with my first and delivered at 29 weeks. My next 2, no problems at all. This time I have gestational hypertension, but no pre-e yet. Hoping it stays that way! Will be thinking of you! Keep us posted!

Thank you so much everyone! @ginny5683‌ I will praying for you too! Those steroid shots are no joke. It was far worse than Rhogam. We need to keep these sweet boys baking!
