I'm with @jessa8907. We have girls at my school that are in high school and treat leggings as pants - they have way too much to show off. I think babies are safe though! Especially monster butt leggings

I'll be the odd man out on this. I don't think it's cute on babies either unless their top covers their butt. Them it's ok (but only for kids, leggings should never be a substitute for pants for anyone who's over 12).
I can only imagine how much a pain in the ass it is to try to get the leggings up a squirmy little baby's body. I wouldn't buy leggings for my kid for that reason alone. Thankfully I'm having a boy so unless he wants to wear them when he's old enough to chose so, then I don't need to worry about dressing him in them.

DD is almost 4 and we still do leggings as pants. Not as much as a tiny baby, but once they are a little sturdier they are easy to get on. DD has always been pretty tiny, and leggings fit her better than most other comfy pants. (i.e. they stay up) I think you are fine until puberty, then cover that tush.
Re: Does the "leggings are not pants" rule apply to babies? TIA nft

My child will live in leggings because I'll be living in yoga pants and obvs I want DD to match me?!
I think leggings are always ok IF the butt is covered with something longer .
