A couple weeks ago, my nanny suddenly gave her notice and my mother's helper quit, so we've had to make some changes.

But, it's ok. I've been fine with them on my own on my days off and was lucky there is a brand new daycare that opened about a mile down the road from where I work and they had plenty of infant spots left. Today was their first day and we are not off to an auspicious beginning. Lizzy spit up this morning after I got her all dressed and it was really bad, in her hair and all over her

So, she got a morning bath and I got her all dressed again. As I was getting ready to go out the door and get her into the car, she spit up again, requiring another outfit change.

Then, I couldn't find my keys anywhere. DH and I looked everywhere. Turns out, my mother - AKA 'the tornado' - who watched the girls yesterday was so frantic, she stuck my keys in her purse thinking they were hers, and so now my keys are up in NH. I have a spare set for the car but I am now without a house key or a key to get into my office for the rest of the week.

I stayed with the girls for about 20 minutes in the day care before I left. They weren't too happy about it all.

I just now got an email from the daycare center telling me that last night there was a gas leak and they smelled propane on the playground outside, but not to worry as the fire chief assured them that the building and children were safe and that the gas has been turned off and is being fixed.

There was no point to this post except to procrastinate getting any work done this morning.
Re: My morning in gifs
@jennlin - no spare office keys. The admin girl is going to have to let me in for the rest of the week. My mother is such a spaz. Its nice that she nannies for us on Mondays, but she is so high strung and does everything so fast and without thinking. She talks fast, walks fast, she flings the babies around because she is always in such a rush. When she feeds them, she shovels it in so fast, they gag and then she says things like "I don't think they are ready for this food yet, they're gagging" *facepalm*. When I come home on Mondays, the house is a disaster - dishes everywhere, all the cabinets open, dirty diapers just laying around. Its stressful for me but she actually really enjoys doing it and it is nice to have one free day of child care per week, so we all put up with it.
@wedding06 I haven't heard from the daycare yet. They said they'd call this afternoon and let me know how they are doing. They said I can come in and visit at lunch time but I think that would just upset them again, but they have closed circuit cameras in the room that you can watch from the lobby, so I might do that. I'm ok with them going to daycare. I think it will be good for them in the long run and we were going to do it anyway in the fall. Lately they seem to be getting kind of bored in the house. They are sick of all their toys and by the afternoon, I really struggle to keep them occupied. I think this will be very stimulating for them and they will like it after they get used to the teachers there.
I don't know what the gas leak thing was all about. Just a fluke I hope.
