Anyone with HBP or Hypothyroid, before your BFP?

I plan on asking next week at my last RE appointment, but wanted to see if anyone else is dealing with these health issues as well. Do either of these make us a high risk pregnancy? If you are hypothyroid, how often during pg are you getting blood work done to check your thyroid levels?

I have hypothyroidism. It makes me high risk according to my RE and primary care doctor but not according to any of the midwives we've met with or my endocrinologist so who knows.

My RE checked my thyroid immediately when I got pregnant and then 4 weeks later. I went to an endocrinologist last week and she said to check every 4 weeks during the first tri. After that, she said once per trimester as long as the numbers are stable. She said after birth, probably every 4 weeks until it stabilizes again.

I recommend going to an endocrinologist sooner rather than later if your RE, OB or primary care doctor don't have a lot of experience managing hypothyroidism during pregnancy. My RE and primary care physician were monitoring mine but something didn't seem right. I went to an endo who confirmed that they weren't interpreting the test results correctly.

I have hypothyroidism.  Is was found 5 years ago right before I got pregnant.  My RE has already tested my thyroid and it was up to 2.6 (which she felt was a little too high, so we adjusted my meds and I go back next week (so 3 weeks later) for a recheck.  She said she will check every 3-4 weeks during the pregnancy, since it can change so much.

My OB checked them every 4-6 weeks during my first pregnancy and I know he checked them after DS was born, but I can't remember how often.

I'm hypo but I'm also a FTM.  I have been told that they will test my levels every 4 months or so and adjust accordingly.

I was diagnosed hypo a year before my bfp. When DH and I started TTC neither my PCP or OB had worries, instructions or concerns. After my loss in Jan I started seeing an endo ( my tsh on the day of my confirmed loss was 7) he he recommended a dose increase the day I got my bfp and then checking every 4-6 wks depending on how regulated I am.

I have hypothyroidism as well. I was diagnosed about a year and a half ago. My endo checked my levels when I got my positive test and upped my meds then. I have to get blood drawn every 4 weeks.

I'm considered hypo after having radioactive iodine treatment and I was during my first pregnancy as well. I had my levels monitored by my endo every two months or so. My ob didn't consider me "high risk" but she did monitor me more closely to check on baby's growth. For example I started weekly appointments at 32 weeks when her standard is 36 weeks for patients with no complications. I also had more fetal monitoring, non stress tests, and ultrasounds closer to delivery than she would normally do.

I might end up calling the RE nurse this week and ask, I'd like to know so that I can decide on an OB and if I would have to see a high risk one. I'm so nervous about my health, I just want to make sure they are staying on top of it. Thanks for the info, ladies!

I didn't find out that I needed to be on thyroid meds until I got pregnant and my dose has already been increased since then. Makes me nervous!

I have hypo and they consider me high risk. I go to an endo specialist normally and he reassured me that as long as my levels were good when I got pregnant and I monitored every month with blood draws that is not a huge deal. I'm with you though, doesn't stop me from being nervous (also a FTM).

I have Hashimoto's (started as postpartum hypothyroid) but pre-pg, my levels were normal (except TPO antibodies obviously).

I called my endocrinologist after I got pg, and they wanted to see me immediately.  Did labs and my TSH is high so started on Synthroid (other labs were normal).  They'll recheck in 6 weeks for any dose adjustments.

I have hypo as well, diagnosed three weeks ago at around 5 weeks pregnant. They said they'll be checking me every 6 weeks.
